First poor experience with Amazon - what should I do? (Solved)

Okay I ordered an nVidia Shield TV June 27, I promptly got updates and it appeared to be with Australia Post June 30 (seemed a bit odd it could have arrived that far to Australia) … Anyway the next 16 days both Amazon and AusPost show "In Transit" status. AusPost today said something is wrong, they can't confirm receiving it and it shouldn't remain in that status so long, told me to speak to Amazon about it.

Amazon told me nothing other than acknowledging "there is a delay with my order", now expected to receive it July 24. They told me I'd be welcome to request a refund / replacement or wait it out. At the time I just want my package to arrive so I said I'll wait, but if it doesn't arrive by the new date to expect a refund request from me.

My question is - What should I do?

UPDATE: After speaking to a 2nd Amazon rep, I've been offered a full refund and taken it. Off to order a new nVidia Shield TV, hopefully this one arrives

  • What would you do?

Wait if you still want it, ask for a refund if you don't.

    • But there is also the "Replace" option.

Ultimately I do want the unit but I'm losing faith in this first one ever arriving.

EDIT: Scratch that, there is no "replace" option, second rep just offered me a refund. I'll go and order another now.

  • To be totally honest with you, I would request a refund; It's more then likely lost.

I order from Amazon quite often, even though you paid $199.99 it's not a Major lost from Amazon.

From experience, I've seen many people buy things on Amazon and claim their package was 'lost', and they issue an immediate refund.

    Request a refund, OP.

    • Okay I'm leaning in this direction too.

I wasn't left with confidence when they couldn't really explain what had happened other than stating what I already knew.

  • +2

I'm opening up a new chat with rep, going to request a replacement and failing that, refund.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll let you know how it goes if anyones' interested.

  • Okay Amazon have been awesome about it.

Spoken to Rep #2, he offered a full refund after listening to my concerns (I think he agreed it sounds like a lost cause without) offering to make an exception in my case to push the refund.

So it's done, off to order a new one now.

Okay Amazon have been awesome about it.

Sounds like every experience I've ever had with Amazon, simply cannot fault their customer service! :)

Anyways, good outcome OP…here's hoping that in this case second time's a charm! ;)

      • Thanks, I've had some good experiences with them. Once I ordered a large number of items (20+) and they forgot to send 1 item (Samsung 64GB Pro MicroSDXC) so they asked if I'd accept it at a reduced price - they ended up slashing it down to something like $18 (insane price for that card)

As you say, all should be fine 2nd time around.

  • If I were you I would go to a website to ask people (I do not know) what to do.

    • God bless OzBargain :)

    • exclusive for Prime members.

One step ahead of you, I saw that and joined up prior to ordering :D

This way if I miss some "Prime discount" I'll be in good position to get it credited. Have also set reminders to cancel it before it starts costing.

  • If the first one shows up will you send it back?

    • I honestly now think it's gone missing based on both conversations with AusPost and Amazon so it's not a dilemma i expect to face.

Despite what I wrote above, at the end of the day we're talking about fraud right? Any return wouldn't happen on my wallet but their return policy means they cover it anyway.

The fact that Amazon have been so good would tip me over the honest line. Tempting as it may be I honesty have no need for 2 units anyway.

  • Hi do Amazon chagre annual membership to buy stuff from them as Costco do , please let me know thanks

    • No they don't. Unless you join their prime membership which gives you access to specials throughout the year

      • And from what I've seen so far, prime is useless unless you live in USA and shop regularly. Our currency kills any benefit here.

  • UPDATE - 2nd SHIELD arrived:

Would you believe, after being lost in America for over a month (never left US domestic), my original nVidia SHIELD turned up yesterday, a day after the replacement came.

Now I have to open up a chat with Amazon and work out if I keep it (and re-purchase it) or return it.

As much as I love the SHIELD and would love a 2nd one, it's kinda ridiculously overkill as my old WDTV fills in that niche already.

One option is to see if any friends/family want it. Since I paid the cheapest/slowest shipping, after charging AusPost shipping the end cost would be able equilivant to Amazon's expediate shipping I guess, except the buyer would get it even faster (2 days)

If anyone's keen let me know and if I don't come up with another solution we could do this. It's unopened.

    • hey mate do you still have the Shield TV?
