Hi everyone.
Just like to know the best things to do in Phuket?
Any cheap retail areas?
Areas I should avoid?
Also sim cards ..where to buy and what sort of baht do they cost? Preferably unlimited data plans..

Not unlimited calls, only 30 mins included. Its also 3G speeds, 1GB of a data, 7 days expiry. Its 'ok' for short/light visits.
Check out http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-packages.h… for more options. like this one
700 baht gets you 4G speeds, 6GB of data that lasts 30 days. (~$30AUD)
Cheers for clearing that up, it was a few years ago I went. 6gb for $30 sounds reasonable.
Yeah depends on how long you will be visiting. The $30 one up front is better value compared to buying two of the 7 day ones. But if only there for a day or two, save your money and go the cheaper one.
Also you can get simcards from the airport. It can be handy as they speak better/more english, will help you activate the simcards and get the right APN on your phones. Very handy if you need this kind of thing.
A few years ago, I got one from 7-11 and to activate it, it was all in thai! Had to get my friend with us who knew thai to do it. Whoops. Hoping the tourist ones are now in english!
you need to throw us a bone… what area are you staying in? Patong? Karon? etc; are you traveling with family, kids ages? or with a group of mates? your age bracket? do you want to do shopping, partying, touristy things, or a balance of each? how long you there for?
Couple, 10nights, Patong Beach. Shopping, nightclubs etc cheap electronics etc
Will see Phi Phi islands one day.
One thing anyone here who has been to Phuket can advise is that, there is no cheap shopping there unless the people are selling you a dud. Phuket is rip off land for travellers, even cabs are a rip off. If you are travelling to bangkok before or after phuket, do all your shopping there instead.
If you intend to buy Phi Phi boat tickets (or any "shows") from travel agents at Patong, make sure you bargain hard. I could shave off about at least 20% off the advertised price.
If you don't like large crowds, alcohol, naked hot girls (or guys I'm not sure) and lots of drunk Brits/Aussies, don't go to Bangla Road. Otherwise, please proceed…
Can confirm, that pretty much sums up Bangla Road.
Also if you know basic strategy to connect 4 you can really annoy bartenders :/
Connect 4?
The game connect 4, they play it in bars a lot. Basically challenging drunk guys for money, but if you aren't drunk and actually know how to play they get pissed off.
Ahhh sweet, I'll be there in August with the missus for the first time. Will have to rape any good ideas.
Just quietly, check out the Tripadeal website. About 2-3 weeks ago they had quite a few deals for activities around Phuket and it worked out to be about half price. Not sure if they're still available.
I heard there is a good ping pong show
Sounds great,I'm all for watching different kinds of sports.
+1 on the ping pong, it will be an unforgettable experience ;)
What was seen can still not be unseen, true story to this day
How long are you planning to stay? Head to a 7-11 and pick up a DTAC Happy tourist sim, from memory its 7 days of unlimited calls and internet for 299 baht
What sort of things do you like to do? Are you into nightlife or family friendly day stuff? A trip to some of the nearby islands including Khao Phing Kan (James bond island) is always good.
I haven't been shopping in Phuket before, save it for Bangkok but I'm sure someone will have suggestions :)
