Is this an official instrument bundle + AC/DC? Curious about the quality of the instruments which seems to vary from one bundle to another.

Yup, went to EB @Rhodes and they have like stacks of them there. Make sure you ask for the AC/DC game though as they might not give it to you if you don't mention it!

New to this rock band/guitar hero style of games. I see that this is the original rock band instrument set, does that mean everything is wired? Are there any disadvantages of buying this older set compared to the new one?
I have a PS3 so will look at getting that version.

To be fair, this is in a league of it's own. Some of the other Wacky Wednesday "specials" are pretty crap
i had a chat with a salesperson on xbox 360 one and he said ot os compatible with guitar hero games.
the only problem is that layout of the drums is different so it may be not possible to use them.

I think it just takes away the fifth bar when playing GH games (or merges the 4th and 5th bar into one.
I played it about a year ago (Rockband Instruments + GH game) and can confirm that it removes the 5th bar automagically ;)

The instrument kit i got was for the original rock band drums, and ALL the instruments were wired. Maybe they differ from store to store, but that is what i receieved. Good deal still, i dont regret the purchase!

Bought one yesterday (wed) for my ps3 after reading the email from eb games.
Very happy with the price, regardless of if being rockband 1 instruments.With rockband Greenday planned for release at some stage next year (sooner the better) and the instruments being supported by the majority of guitar hero software, $88 is a hell of a bargain. Even had the $150 usual price still on the side of the box.
For the people that missed out, I work at K-Mart and on the Boxing Day sale, the exact same pack (Instruments and ACDC game) will be on sale for $49 ($39 cheaper than this already cheap price).
