Los Angeles, May 12, 2015. The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) today announced completion of the Ultra HD Blu-ray™ specification and released the new logo that will delineate Ultra HD Blu-ray products. The Ultra HD Blu-ray specification, which represents the work of global leaders from the consumer electronics, IT and content creation industries, will enable delivery of Ultra HD content via Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc to the rapidly growing number of UHD TV households.

    Blu Ray only got anywhere at all once it was cracked - you'd think that maybe they might have learnt their lesson.

      I think it was more once it became affordable than when it was 'cracked'.

      I suspect the same will happen here. I expect the equipment will be very expensive to start with (both the hardware and the discs) and then, over a few years, the prices will drop to current DVD/BR prices.

    • I think bluray was cracked pretty early on - I remember them finally announcing the end of hd dvd and a day later slsyoft released their bluray decrypter
