And why is this a bargain? It's more expensive than Xiaomi brand for the same capacity.

  • Purchased one from the xiaomi store via a friend. Pretty good portable charger also got a romoss sense 6 which was like a brick LOL.

This one is definitely more portable.

Hi whats the advantage of the li-poly cell in this powerbank over the Li-Ion cells in the Xiaomi powerbank ? This is rated at 10000mAH and the Xiaomi powerbank is rated at 10000mAH as well.If there is more energy density in the li-po cell , is this powerbank smaller in size (thinner maybe) compared to the Xiaomi 10000 powerbank ? Is it thinner than a Xiaomi 10000mAH powerbank since it doesnt need to have cylindrical cells ? Has anyone opened this yet to check what the cells look like ?

I believe it's a "flat" cell, like a phone battery. Li Poly used to be all the rage for rechargeable power banks before Li-Ion "took over", it looks like it's back as a contender now?

Note: Li-Poly batteries (used to?) expand as capacity ran low, so you may not wish to drain these below 20% for a longer product lifespan (although I'd hope Xiaomi's circuitry leaves enough reserve capacity in the battery so this does not happen).

Additional note: the ~yearly Aldi Power Bank is also Li-Po.

      • thx for the reply ! ah i see.i didnt know that till now - that li-po batteries expand (and make the batteries puffy) from low charge.I assumed that it was from too many charging cycles.Well now i know :) Had a few lipo batteries that went puffy over time eg my rc helicopter , galaxy s4 battery. And also problems with my ASUS Transformer TF101 dock , where the batt doesnt charge after no using it for a long period of time (have to trickle charge using usb from pc in order to get it working )
That was an interesting article with all the charging tips.
        Gonna do abit more reading.
tried searching for the Aidi powerbank , the links taken off the site now.But i did find the whirlpool thread. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1907763
Personally , i carry 3 spare galaxy s5 batteries with me whereever i go.And all of the powerbanks i buy i leave at home n only use them for emergencies. After having my rc helicopter n galaxy s4 battery puff up after not using it for a while. At this point in time id rather go for the Li-Ion whereever possible , just because i can keep it in storage for longer.
        thx for the information !
