Cash Rewards Booking.com Update Bookings?

Hi Ozbargainers,
Have a question about using Cash Rewards with Booking.com. I have used Booking.com to make some reservations (unpaid) for an upcoming trip to Japan. I regret not using Cash Rewards now as there is a bonus $12/booking. I don't want to lose my bookings, but I would like to rebook using Cash Rewards so I get the rebate. What is the best way to do this? I was thinking I could sign in to Cash Rewards, go to Booking.com, and 'change' my bookings to the same dates. Would this work?
Any suggestions appreciated!

  • Note Booking.com has a sketchy payment history with cashrewards with some customers not getting the bonuses when they booked multiple nights as individual bookings at single properties.
    As for rebooking, I don't think just changing dates would work, as the booking was already made.
    I would make new reservations via the CR site using a different email address, then cancel the original bookings if you are able to get the same or better deals on the new bookings.

    • maybe also in another name (if you're traveling with someone else) & do the new booking & cancelation while you're on different network (& therefore have different IP address).

    Regarding splitting bookings for the booking.com rebates, Andrew from cashrewards previously posted "Hi There, Andrew here again - BTW no worries with booking splitting as there is no rule against this!"
    I have personally split bookings for this purpose and did not have a problem with getting the rebates.

      Not according to the store rep:

      "The issue has been that booking.com have rejected paying rewards to anyone who had booked multiple nights at the same hotel in separate bookings.

      Some members made up to 10 separate bookings for a 10 night stay at the same hotel.

      The booking.com system has identified any bookings made from an IP address that made multiple bookings as fraud and this has held up the payments of rewards in those instances. Their system has picked up that making multiple bookings is not 'normal behaviour' and dishonoured these bookings."

      • Well I rebooked under a different email address using Cash Rewards, then cancelled the original bookings. Same IP address. I haven't made multiple bookings for the same hotel though.

      • Thanks 'Love a bargain', it was the SAME GUY, but about 9 months ago, and so it looks like he has changed his mind. And so everyone, please ignore my previous advice.

    • You can view your transactions listed at Cashrewards by signing in and then clicking on My Account. If it is listed there, then you should be ok. They are very slow at paying though.
