Vinomofo SECRET DEAL Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 $192/12 Pack ($16 Bottle) + $9 Shipping

21

This wine appears to be Pertaringa Rifle & Hunt Cabernet Sauvignon 2013: http://www.pertaringa.com.au/Our-Wines/Rifle-Hunt-Cabernet-S…

Vinomofo says "this prized cabernet delivers over and above with power, elegance and generosity. Full-bodied with luscious notes of blackcurrant and mulberry, flourishes of violet and herbal spice combine with brooding tannins throughout, leading to a smooth and lingering finish."

This 5 Star McLaren Vale winery is owned by respected SA producer Geoff Hardy: http://www.winesbygeoffhardy.com.au/

$40 a bottle direct from producer. Can be found online at $27 a bottle (6 pack + delivery). So $16 from VM seems a decent price.

A more expensive wine than many VM deals but I think it represents an affordable opportunity to snaffle some high-end Cab Sav from a quality producer. Can always send it back if not up to scratch but I've never needed to do that with VM.

  • there has been many 95 pts Cabernet Sauvignon going on recently on Mofo.
I grab the Wynns black label 2012 there at $23 and also at Winemarket for $18*6.

searched for half an hour, nothing close

    • Yes I'm a Cab Sav fan and I've been picking up several of the VM offers. Usually target under $10 a bottle but sometimes spend a bit more.

It's just a shame they don't stock older vintages so much now.

  • +2

So Vinmofo runs out some sort of anonymous plonk and then pays a rotating cavalcade of plonkers to name it as something stunning, collectable and a real buy. Vinmofo is in the clear, they didn't name the wine. And this happens repeatedly on OzB. Am I the only one that smells rodent?? Or am I just being too cynical!! Just sayin'…..

    • Well I'm pretty certain of the identity otherwise I wouldn't have posted.

Obviously VM are going to talk it up on their product page.

Regardless a $40 wine from a quality producer for $16 seems like a good deal to me. I used to buy $20+ bottles in a six from Dan's but VM has proven to be cheaper and better in most cases.

Your neg is inappropriate unless you can find a better price for the product.

  • Why do you say this is a "more expensive wine than many VM deals"? $16 is at the low end, and why it's being sold in 12.

    • My purchases from VM average out at $104 per case of 12 which is about $8.70 per bottle…so this wine is almost double my usual spend at VM. Still cheaper than anywhere else so worth a shot IMO.
