How the hell is that related to performance? Children learn a lot more on such trips than they would ever in the class room. The schools would rather the students sit on their backside than get out and do something real! It is great experience and great family time. All places are not suitable for visiting during the longer holiday breaks, like US, Europe or large parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Well I hope the policy makers know there is a northern hemisphere and not just southern one! Typical uneducated policy makers trying to make something that would be read by some one and to prove their point. Lets see how many other states follow! Or may be they have already done so!
The issue is that children can fall behind and miss out on important things.
It might not be an issue for a few days as the class might still be on that topic but any longer and you can definitely be creating issues.
Of course I'm sure you can find out what your child missed etc and catch them up, people don't normally do this though.
As students get 12 weeks of holidays a year, I think the department takes the view that they should holiday in one of THOSE. I tend to agree.
Having two kids in school and a wife that is a teacher, it is really tough when a dream trip to the USA for the four of us costs $8000 in flights instead of $4000 because we can only travel in school holidays.
@ozpanda: And you want to be in US in the right season, and not get hit by snow storms, hurricanes..etc..
Last year I took my kids out of school for a month to travel across the US.
Nothing was ever said to us, and my daughter just got into a good high school for next year.
and she will have another 8 days off next March when we're off to LA again
The Premium Economy prices are also very good. I priced it up at $1998.58 Syd<->LAX return
can this be stacked with the 10% off
I'd too be interested to know if you could stack it up?
Shame. I need it for 2016 :(
