GoPro camera rent Melbourne

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct forum for it, but I'm looking to rent a GoPro camera for an upcoming ski trip in Melbourne. I've done some research online and the prices varies very differently from $30 a day to $50 a day . I'm wondering does anyone know a good and trustworthy place to rent a GoPro camera? I'm only going for 3 days so I think it'll be better off to rent a GoPro rather than buying one.

Thanks everyone!

If I had a go pro I'd rent it to you for $50 for all three days. If u threw in a bond just so I'm not worried u won't return it, lol.

    • Well I was deciding between buying or renting. Now I think maybe buying one and sell it afterwards will be the better option! Thanks Charlie!

    You just missed the boat.

With the recent $399 DSE Gopro Hero 4 White offer, 20% off code and $50 back ebay coupon (spend on accessories or whatever). That's $270.

If going overseas and claiming GST back, it's about $235.

Could even a profit if you sold it after using it for a trip.

    • Yeah I saw the deal few weeks ago and almost pulled the trigger. But now it's too late…

I remember renting an (old model) gopro for white water rafting and all the photos were blurry.
I now own an "SJcam SJ5000", a Chinese alternative of GoPro and its works extremely well
Only costed me $100 USD but it was shipped from China

If you are thinking about going this route here is a link from where i purchased mine.

    • Thanks! I'll give it a look since its much cheaper than GoPro

  • +1 for SJCAM. Even an sj4000, $70ish and you own it.
For your average punter who only wants a momento, it is more than adequate.

Although GoPros and similar action cams are fairly press-record-and-forget, if you haven't used one before it wouldn't hurt to play with one a bit before your trip.

Try out the mounts and find out what gives you good stable footage; get used to positioning the camera to capturing what you want, particularly how far away things look with the wide-angle lens; learn how it reacts when pointing in the direction of the sun, away from the sun.

That way you can enjoy the snow rather than fiddle with the camera.
