BBQ like a Weber Q

I want to replace my 4 burner with something smaller as I rarely use the whole grill, but regularly use the BBQ.

Been looking at the middle of the Weber range and the best I have seen was the Q2000 for $300 during one of the eBay deals. I've also been checking out Gumtree for second hand models that are a similar size.

I'm not fussed on the brand, I just don't want the grill to rust so I don't want low quality. I have also read that if the Weber grill does rust, they are very cooperative in quickly replacing it.

Any more ideas about what BBQs I should be looking at?

  • WEBER Q is best my dad $4000 one he love it. I have baby Q got it a ebay sale. I real love it. Roast taste real nice as does all food cooked on weber. i have smeg oven still cook roast and pizza on my weber.

  • How does the Weber range compare with the average 4-burner, size wise? They reckon the Q2000 can feed "up to 10" but that seems like an exaggeration. I'm hard pressed to feed more than 4 well with a 4-burner unless I cook in batches (doing steaks, sausages, onions, corn, etc.).

    • My current 4 burner is a decent size and could probably handle catering for 8 people easily; steaks, onion, chicken drumsticks and corn on the rack.

The way I see it, I don't cook for that many people very often and most people don't mind if you trickle in the meat from a smaller grill during a get together. Plus, you get to hang out with the boys around the BBQ longer. Most of my BBQing is just a couple of steaks or chicken breasts for me and the missus.

      • Yeah, 4 was probably pessimistic. It's just not very helpful when they say it cooks for X many people - most recipes I've seen have portion sizes about half of what I'd like to eat! I'm not hung up on size (ahem) but you want to get the right one for the job.

To answer my original question, this diagram shows different Weber grill sizes.

Interestingly, this Weber photo shows the 3200 cooking what looks like a meal for maybe 5 people getting something in the order of 2 pieces of chicken, 1 carrot, and 1 brussels sprout each (!). How can they claim it feeds "up to 15 people"? Maybe if they eat 1 average sized steak each?

Granted, the 3200 looks to be big enough for 95% of jobs, I just don't like their useless claims.
