Check the tags in store for errors. I got a bottle of Hakushu Distillers Reserve for $67.99 when it should have been $71.99 after the 20% off. Also, a bottle of Monkey's Shoulder for $39.19 (not part of the 20% off because it's a blend); the tag said down from $39.99, but that was never the normal price, it's normally $48.99. The guy said there was some errors in their ticketing system for this sale. Mind you, this was on the 26th, so they may have fixed them by now.
I did some comparisons to Nicks and seems their starting prices are very high, so I can't find any bargains. This single bottle of Laphroaig 10 Year Old for $69.99 may be a bargain at Nicks, but it's $91.99 at vintage cellars.
Yeah came to a similar conclusion after a preliminary check just before.
I also went for an Aberlour 12, which was $69.99 before the discount; the same price as Nick's. So there are some bargains, but just don't expect all of them to be the best price.
Perhaps that's the pick of the bunch, I'm looking for Peat monsters :)
Monkey Shoulder is included (blended Malt = close enough) & is $48.99 - 20% = $39.19 which is the cheapest I have seen it anywhere. Hellyer's Road (Australian) Original Single Malt comes down to $71.99 which is way cheaper than anywhere else. Free shipping if you spend over $150 on wine or spirits (vs $200 at Nicks). There are certainly some good deals to be had if you shop around. Good to see Vintage Cellars finally competitive on some of these items as I normally find them very expensive compared to others (eg. the Laphroaig which is $69.99 at both Nicks.com.au and ALDIliquor.com.au).
The ticket price at my store for Monkey's Shoulder was $39.19 and it didn't mention the need to buy 2. I bought it by itself. Although it didn't scan at that price, and the guy had to override it.
Sweeten the deal with $15 off a spend of $100+ with an Amex card using this deal:-
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201784
2 x Ardbeg 10yo @ $87.99 = $175.99
Less 20% = $140.78
Less $15 Amex Credit = $125.78
That's $62.90 for a bottle of Ardbeg 10yo.
Similarly
$52 for Glenmorangie 10yo.
$76.50 for Lagavulin 16yo.
$40.50 for Glenlivet 12yo (If you buy 2 of these you will need to top up with a cheap item to meet Amex Minimum $100).
Very good deal in that case…Pity I missed it by 24 hours!
