    $30/year, Proxy Service

Is that like a Proxy Wedding?

    • Sock5 proxy for your utorrent client. So you don't have to run a standalone VPN on your computer.

      • utorrent?

        • +1

uTorrent is one of many clients for torrents.

        • @brezzo: I understand that - just a bit weird to say "utorrent" when there's dozens of other clients out there. utorrent is garbage anyway. Enjoy mining for bitcoins.

        • @joeflacco: Enjoy mining for bitcoins.

          Elaborate?

        • +1

@Domingo: I believe he is referring to this. tl;dr uTorrent started using users' machines to mine for bitcoins… pretty sketchy.

I use bittorrent, but there are plenty of alternatives out there.

  • How many connections are allowed? Would i be able to use my full 100/40 mbit speed?

    • X5 simultaneous connections allowed in 45 countries around the world.

AU clients can get very fast speeds from Melbourne, Syndey, Hong Kong, USA – LA VPN locations.

You should be able to get close to max speed from the above locations… TorGuard also offers a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied for any reason.

      • +1

Correct me if I'm wrong however none of those locations support peer to peer do they?

        • Apparently all support peer to peer.
To be honest, im a little annoyed they posted here (jokes). Ive been using them for a few months now and they have been great!

Speed slows down to about 1/3rd of actually speed. i download around 300kb normally and at the most i get 150kb through the VPN service.

Great service though happily recommend them :D

        • @XCelR8:
Wait.. You think 1/2 speed through a VPN is great? Theoretically (depending on software used) you should get around ~90-95% of your ddownload speed without a VPN.

Either way, still an okay deal possibly, depending on how secure their setup is. Currently I'm still using the VPN.sh deal for various things and a personal VPS setup as a VPN/proxy for everything else.

        • @dyl:
That's using torrents, i cant say ive done a normal speed test, and as we know torrents may vary. I'll do some more testing, but because of the Lib's ill never see anything much better than what i have now.

      • As I understand you can use this on 5 devices at the same time.
So what does the 'X' in 'X5 simultaneous' mean?

        • x5 connections

  • Can you be more clear on the "Lifetime" statement?

So if I subscribe to 6months now and get the discount, and then renew it after 6 months, should the discount still be on the next cycle even after this promo is over?

    • Correct. The "Lifetime" discount means the promo will still be valid when you renew.

  • Does this VPN work in china?

    • +1

Yes, TorGuard offers "Stealth" labeled VPN servers that will bypass DPI firewalls.

  • "we’ll upgrade your TorGuard service for 1 year" … "for the life of your subscription."

For current customers can they be upgraded for 1 year or for life?

    • Yes, the promo applies to current customers too. Simply contact the support desk and they will assist in the upgrade!

  • Easy as. I've been a customer for a year or two now. I use VPN's constantly (often overseas on random wifi). There's nearly always a nearby server that works.
Granted I haven't tried everyone out there, but I haven't needed to because Torguard has worked so well.

  • I've been using Torguard for about 3 months. I find their proxy service excellent, and can get very good speeds, sometimes even maxing my adsl2.
Though I'm a bit disappointed with their VPN service. I find VPN speeds are usually slow or sometimes I have to select another country and reload my browsing page. I think I'll try another VPN service after my 12mths is finished, or the very least just get the proxy which is cheaper. Also this is my first time I've used a VPN, so I don't know if they are all like that. I thought Torguard had good customer service. I've used the live chat at least 6 times, which really helps when starting out.

CHOICE have a review of 14 VPNs in this months issue. TorGuard has the lowest overall performance and ease of use scores and failed the DNS leak test.

    https://www.choice.com.au/electronics-and-technology/interne…

    • hmm almost checked out but then I saw your post. Is puevpn really good according to the review?

      • PureVPN are equal first with VyprVPN for overall score. You may not agree with their methodology or priorities.

        • what about private internet access? its being by quite a few people on whirlpool.

        • Top for performance. They must have marked it down a bit because it doesn't have an auto speed test to determine best server.

          Doesn't the link work?

  • Very happy with Torguard! I consistently pull 40-50mbps from both the US and Netherlands servers with bigpond cable.

Support is generally quick and you can pay in bitcoins.

When connected on either PC or Phone to their servers I will stay connected for weeks without d/c.

Not sure what the story is with the Choice review however I have used DNS leak test on the PC/Connection before and it passed…

    • I would have to agree with you on the DNS leak test. No leaks reported on my PC too, so I think they didn't have it setup properly.

    • I'm getting speeds pretty average on this Torguard, like 30mbps when I have a 50mbps connection. I'll be asking for a refund under their guarantee and trying another. Also the SOCKS5 proxy they provide is pretty poor.

      • What is wrong with the proxy? You sure the files you are downloading have enough seeders?

        • Yeah, as soon as I turned off the proxy on a few test, well-seeded torrents (ubuntu, for example, is a good 1gb tester), the speeds doubled.

This is because the proxy locations for SOCKS5 are all very far away, Canada had the lowest ping for me at 250+.

        • @brezzo:
Just wondering, Do you know any company which offers SOCKS5 proxy in Australia? And what download speed are you expecting?

  • Used Torguard for the past 2 years and they have been great. Their support is really fast. I used it in China a couple of times to access facebook etc, no dramas. VPN speed is actually really good for direct downloads, as other's have said torrents can be a bit of hit and miss, getting around 4-5 MBps on average for Optus/Telstra 100 mbps cable is good enough for my uses.
