Hey thanks heaps for the tips. I probably won't buy anything from Aldi but def Kathmandu .
I mean I'm gonna try to go to the snow once a year so not too regular.
Aldi stuff is surprisingly reasonable. I'd possibly get those goggles.
If you are happy to invest I'd suggest spending a decent amount on water proof gear. As someone who has skied in Australia for a while it isn't pleasant when you are wet all the way through.
Definitely buy yourself a helmet
You would be crazy not to buy the ALDI gear since you are a first timer.
The skis are rebranded quality items and the snow jackets are good quality also
I'm not a first time I used to ski heaps but I was too cheap to buy my own gears. But now that I'm working I can afford to buy my own stuff
No problem - Its just Katmandu is much overpriced even when getting 50% off.
I have been skiing for 25 years and just use the Aldi stuff (clothing/helmets) now.
Go to Amazon. Bought O'Neill jacket for 50usd and DC pants for another 50usd and some other stuff to get over 125usd for free shipping. Same setup locally would have cost me at least $350-$450, pants alone are $199 on official website.
Aldi has thermals and other warm clothes on sale from TODAY Saturday the 4th. Be at the store early!!

I'd suggest a thermal set, the "hiking top", and the hiking socks with the down jacket. From Aldi. They even have ski goggles with a camera.
Are you going to start going to the snow regularly? If so you should buy higher end stuff.
Also Kathmandu has a sale on thermals and possibly other stuff

You'll need waterproof pants and a waterproof jacket. That down jacket won't cut it trust me. So I'd try Kathmandu for everything. You could try EMC but they will be more expensive but they are a specialist store.
You'll also need a helmet which you can hire but it's best to BYO.
And a pair of gloves.
Is the $500-600 budget just for your gear?
