Help me find a steam mop

Can you help me find a good steam mop for a bargain ?
Any reviews/pros or cons ? Never used one before but I am so done using the stupid sabco wonder mop which leaves streaks after mopping.

Cheers

  • HAAN SI-A70 MULTI STEAM MOP CLEANER - Does the job on the floors. Not sure its a bargain but have been to many cheapies in the past and regret not spending 200$ on the first go !! http://www.haanaustralia.com.au/products/haan-si-a70-multi-s…

  • I have not used hoovers in the past, so cant comment. But the one the link is only a mop and not a multipurpose steam cleaner ( therefore the price difference ) From experience, @ 60$ dearer - Haan probably maybe a better buy and the after service from them are exceptional. • Please read the reviews here before making your purchase http://www.productreview.com.au/p/haan-si-A70-multi-multiple…

  • Hi, would be keen to find out how you went with your purchase of the A70 recommended here? Am looking to buy a steam mop too but just started my research..

    • Hey there, I ended up buying this one : http://www.target.com.au/p/philips-steam-floor-cleaner-fc7-2…
Was on sale for a 100 bucks in target. We have tiles, so wasn't worried about safe on wood/lino features etc. Was on the fence with the price. So jumped on a good brand and a good price and a good retailer. I've used it for a couple of months and its been a great steam mop (not that I have had other steam mops to compare this ones performance with).

It came with two mop cloth things and the first one got real dirty and messy the first time we used it (and we sweep and mop our 2 bed unit every single day !). I think over time(just in two months and being used once a week), the mop cloth is dying. I would have expected this cloth to be more versatile and long lasting. Because it doesn't come with any attachments, it isn't particularly effective on the grout between the tiles or other places where one could use an attachment. It's triangular head is great to get to nooks and corners. The head swivels, so thats a plus (compared to other hoover $100 steam mops). We LOVE the carpet glider it came with. The mop leaves streaks on the floor after the water has dried. I have no idea if this is a common bug (?) in all steam mops. Just my share of experience with a steam mop. Hope it helps. Please do post back what you end up doing.

      • We decided to let it pass for now. Our stick vacuum is dying (battery is taking longer to charge) so we are saving towards a new one. My research up to that point hasn't really churned out anything spectacular and most steam mops have issues over time with clogging of outlets or leaks. If I ever do get some extra money and bought any, will give you a run down of my experience. Thanks for your share!

  • Kmart's $45 steam mop is rated 3rd best by CHOICE, after Phlips' $165 and Monster's $419 ones, and 2nd best on ProductReview, after Haan's $219 one.
