  • NOTE: THIS IS NOT A BARGAIN

    We're aware ;)

  • Cant believe they get away with $400 + price tags for next gen wheels. I wanted a wheel a few weeks back and decided to get the entry thrustmaster one for xbone until the dust settles and prices get real.

  • +1

What a joke , you dont even get the manual shifter included anymore for that insane price. Find a good used G25 or G27 for a fraction of the price

  • Won't work on your ps4 though

    • Yes it will…

      • How? They're not supported.

        • "G29 game steering wheel is designed for the latest racing games for your PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®3 console. G29 Driving Force also works on your PC using Logitech Gaming Software."

          From http://gaming.logitech.com/en-au/product/g29-driving-force

        • @knick007:

That much is obvious, but i was replying to bargaphile.

        • @nomoneynoproblems: Fair enough… didn't realise that… Though I believe the G27 does work though but I will test it tomorrow :)

        • @knick007: Don't bother, it doesnt work :P. Logitech didn't want to spend money updating old hardware so they put it in a new design aka g29

        • @nomoneynoproblems: I'm disappointed the proper manual shifter is an extra $80.

Who at logitech thought of this. I've seen how many G27s JB has that they are trying to get rid of and yet logitech expects people to pay $500 for this?

  • +1

Yeah, it's expensive but I need to get one for my PS4 and the wife won't notice the difference between this and my old one so it'll be a stealth purchase.

    • +1

      Lol

      Was waiting for you

      • Did you end up getting one of these? I've had mine about a week and love it. Don't believe the BS about it being aG27, this one has new gears that run much quieter, hall sensors for better precision and looks and feels very premium. Excellent wheel. It's no T500 but then again that's $1000. This is great for an enthusiast.

        • May be around Christmas time. I feel it is a bit too expensive as just launched and i have some other financial priorities atm.

Which one are you playing on it? Driveclub or Project Cars

How did you set it up?

        • +1

@varunsic: Playing PCars, I didn't like the game with a controller so it was a risk buying a wheel but I decided at worst I would have Driveclub and my PS3 racers but with a wheel PCars is so realistic and immersive. I've also bought a GT ART racing wheel stand to get maximum benefit from it. That should get here Monday according to tracking details. At the moment I'm using a saw bench but it rocks a little bit and is a bit too high. Also joined a league at ROOZ that runs for an hour on Sunday nights so I can get my monies worth out of it lol.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: i envy you my friend. That's really awesome. With the stand it will be even better.

For $500 you can actually buy a real car and crash drive it in a paddock…

  • Just be aware this is a rebadged G27 and is likely to suffer from all the same quality issues and dated feedback design as that wheel did. Just you get less extras this time. The Thrustmaster wheels are a far more competitive solution.

    • Well tbh I've heard that Logitech are a much more reliable wheel than the TM and also have twice the warranty as well as a full replacement warranty rather than send off and repair for up to 6 weeks.

I've never had a problem with my existing Logitech wheel, also yes this does seem to be a modified G27 but there are differences in the new model. Apparently it has been made much more precise with slight wheel turns in comparison to the G27.

Any idea if its Bluetooth anyone? I've preordered at EB for now (had $70 on another game leftover from trade baits so I moved it over to this)

      • I had a G25 and it rattled and shook the house down with a very grating feel. The G27 fixed this to some degree but like I said there are plenty of G27 owners who have been burnt by the plastic gears wearing out or cracking and the lack of support by Logitech. Both wheels have pretty weak feedback.

I had a old Thrustmaster wheel for 8 years without any issue, but like all wheels there is some amount of failures, which also depends on the users application. Unless you are going with Fanatec which have a history of failure, a high expense and poor customer support I think I'd rather go with a better product.

Darin Gangi on insidesim racing who has used a G29 says it just feels like a G27. Each to their own I guess.
