How do we know if we are in the first 100?

  • +1

Get online and chat with OPTUS via their Online chat? They can take your pre-order from there.

  • Talked with an online chat service assistant and they said once the order is placed jump onto the online chat and see if you're one of the 100. If you aren't one of the 100 you can just cancel.

  • Good luck for anyone who is trying… got my G4 of Ebay while the 20% sale was on :)

    • and how much? if you add the watch still cheaper than this?

  • Well paid $635 for the G4 H815T model and for the watch itself ~$300. I guess it would be cheaper as Optus would likely be selling the phone outright for a lot more.

  • optus just increase the price $58 and $63 now is $61 and $72

    • Is it just me or have Optus increased the prices on some plans? Eg: The Galaxy S5 was on a $60 plan with 3GB data etc, now is $62. When did you see the G4 for $63? Optus now don't even list the G3 anymore.

The only plan that seems to have any value is BYO for $50 and get 8GB of data. Anyone know if you can get that then add handset repayments?

      • at the first time i click the link. i saw the price is $40 plan + $18 mobile or $60 +$3 . planning to other tomorrow for $60 + $3 but half an hour later it become $40 +$21and $60 + $12. :(

  • Do you have to sign up on a plan as well (contract) or would it be available to buy the phone outright?
I want to go with Optus $1 or $2 days soon anyway, as I don't make many calls.

  • will this be like the free PS4 offer last year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163588

  • Whole website died. HTML error, no watches for anyone by the looks of it.

    • +1

So I managed to get through and on my order confirmation, it's listed the watch as a bonus item, so fingers crossed.

  • I tried to order from 9 am - but it just went into an error page “The script condition contains an invalid comparison operator. Condition: @stock = 100”

So I tried via chat - after explaining web site error Angus said he could help. Then he decided he could not and sent me back online…. #$#@#@!

I tried online again and placed an order at 9 30 an I know I got in the 100 because the shopping cart shows phone and watch - both in photo and text

For fun I placed a dummy order at 9:40 and got a watch as well.. Then canx cart

So - if you want one have a go now …

    THANKS to the original poster!
Question: how did you find out? I’m a Optus customer and subscribed to their "new phones" list and I looked on site. I would never have found this deal without your posting here!

  • Could someone who failed to get one in the cart post if it happens? I keep trying to make dummy ones but everything is throwing a watch in also, unless they didn't manage to get rid of the first 100 pre-orders yet?

  • If the 100 are not sold by now thats too much to believe. My nose tells me that didn't do the HTML programming correctly (Thus the error page - I kept a screen print) .. So then they "unlocked " the counter - now that have committed to … more than 100.

The caveat is that they call you to confirm the order. So Im holding my breath for a bad news call. At which time I will insist on them fulfilling the agreed contract, and when that protest fails I will just cancel the deal, and look around for another.

I have been "bitten" by the Optus web pre ordering page when the iphone 5 came out. A glitch that took 4 months and many hours to sort out. I wont go though that again. I'll just port out, pay what I believe is due and leave it to them to sort the mess.

  • PS: then again maybe they didnt get rid of the 100. After all it was a well hidden promotion. Optimistic?

    • "well hidden promotion" doesn't apply once it hits OZBargain. >1336 clicks :)

  • 1.5 days later - I haven't received a call yet confirming my order… I did notice this morning that the watch deal has been removed.

    • Yeah I'm on the same boat here…

edit: I'm really anxious =\ If I don't get a confirmation by Monday, I'm thinking I'll cancel it

  • I phoned the number on the email. Seems like they will take 3 days to call and confirm and give me an order number. As delivery is 14th they pushed priority back. 30 June seems a busy time… so they traiged

  • Hey all, just thought I'd give everyone my update on it.
Just got off the phone with them, they advised me that an official confirmation will be sent out 'after the weekend' which is fine by myself. We all pre-ordered the leather version is what they've told me as well. I was lucky enough to also confirm that I was part of the first 100 orders which is excellent. I just called the number on the bottom of the 'receipt' and spoke to a lady over the phone who helped out with all the enquiries.

    • Around what time was your order @alchemists?

      • I ordered at 9:08am as per my receipt email. I received a text message confirmation last night with an order number. I'm going to double check with them again that the watch was part of my order.

I did an upgrade not a brand new sale in case that matters.

  • Is it safe to assume that by the time the phone ships out the Netflix offer will no longer be valid as it ends on 5th July ?

  • Dear yolk … nice point… great - another argument to have with a Telco ( heavy sigh) I'll mention that when I get the call.

Usually when you get a new contract it starts immediately, even though you haven't got the phone in your hand. A pheon that is 14 days away or more ,,, that seems unfair. So I don't know what will happen in this case. as of 30 seconds ago my plan was unchanged.

But not as unfair as when my wife got the iphone 5 on release day in a rural city. She got the phone, was ported across - but they forgot to supply the dealer with any of the new nano simms . So impossible to use the phones and off line for 2 days.

    • In scenario's such as a pre-order, the phone doesn't start 'charging' until it's been 'activated' which is a process you do when you have the phone + sim in hand. The Netflix 'offer' will be backdated I'd imagine. Only time will tell on what happens here, but I have worked with Telsta+Optus previously and that's what we've done.

  • The communications from Optus have been terrible for this deal. The poster above says he called the number listed on the order conformation and they confirmed he is getting the watch however I did the same and they were still saying people who were successful would be phoned. Originally when the offer went live I was advised within 24-48 hours however that never happened. One would think that if you run a promo like this you would have a plan to inform customers of what is happening as right now everyone is in the dark or under different impressions depending on the staff member they talked to.

  • I placed the order 100% on line. I kept screen shots as I predicted future incompetence. The order shows the phone and the watch - both in text and in photographs. It also noted 6 months netflix. It also said that it would take 3 working days to confirm the order.

5 working days later (10:40 am today) I get an SMS telling me the order is confirmed and gave me an order number.

The order number is completely wrong on their web site, I tried to look to confirm. So I phoned teh number they gave me. After 1 hour 30 minutes I got a message and the call disconnected. Tried again 4pm - no joy for 20 minutes. 6;15 pm and they were closed - despite advertising open until 7pm.

Got on to the chat service who advised me that their is no order under my account.

Went to a store - saw the demo phone, and advised that they had one in stock and for sale….. whoops we sold it this morning.

    Telcos are so disorganized ….

  • Morning all! Seems like it's a bit of a forum post here going on. Anyway… I contacted Optus again yesterday to get a confirmation on what I have (and possibly everyone who preordered) actually ordered. It's an LG G4 in BLACK leather with a SILVER Urbane. I receive confirmation via their online 'sales' with my order number. It may have been easier as I am already in their system as an Optus customer so they had all my details which just 'attached' to my account with them. They put a through a request through to their 'marketing' team to confirm that I will actually be receiving the Urbane.

I had to double and triple check because you get told one thing by one person and another by someone else. Still waiting for that particular confirmation but it should be okay. Time will tell when I receive it on Monday/Tuesday. I was advised it would be shipped Friday/Monday or '1-2 business days'

Hopefully this helps someone who's reading this.

  • excuse my disbelief - (not of you but Optus) Telstra has an exclusive on black.

Did you call the Australian sales Office ? The OS call centre is useless .. they are hamstrung with limited access to information. Last night they replaced the order. Im now getting names and employee numbers of all I contact.

    watch this space

  • another 1 hour 3 minutes on the phone. No change on colour. The advice is that 2 days after receiving the phone (and wondering where the watch is) we will get an SMS or email telling us how to claim the watch… by redemption. goody more stuffing about None of this in the contract or promotional materials.

    • Hey mate, I contacted them online through their chat and they confirmed that the watch would be sent out with the phone on Tuesday. I didn't get any mention of a redemption promotion. I've got some screen caps of the conversation that states it will be sent out, not sure if that'll help you or not if you get stuck

  • Looks like it's time to call again. Off we go!

  • screen caps would be great. Valuable if we compare notes. perhaps we should take this chat off line ? - a bit dull for others. How do we do that … I'll look for a pm facility

    • nah not dull, this is good for the rest of us lurkers. I really hope it's not by redemption but sent out with my phone.

  • You should now be able to enter in your Order # at https://optus.startrack.com.au/ and get a status as well the consignment number. Mine is at the StarTrack depot in NSW.

  • Thanks Alchemists and I both have the same information. It reads like delivery is Monday

I have 2 parcels but alchemists only one. HAA96160 and HAA96161 I thought parcel 2 was going to be the watch but alchemists was told in store that the LG GM comes in 2 boxes - box 2 has one of the 2 covers (leather or gold plastic)

There is still no mention of the watch being by redemption. Not in any documentation. And my written order confirmation clearly shows I'm due a watch, phone and 6 months netflix. I think Alchemist is the same . send me a pm if you want to stay in touch - happy to compare notes esp if we have an issue

In not impressed that they started charging me for the new plan from the 7th, when the phone was not to be released until the 14th

    • Interesting, I only have 1 box as well.

  • +1

I thought I'd advise everyone what's happened with mine. I received my LG G4 and Urbane this morning at 10am from Star track.
It did come in the one box and I was incorrect about the case's coming in two boxes. The LG G4 itself was packed with a leather back and a plastic back in the same box as the phone. The Urbane was packed next to it in a bigger box.

Very happy with my order, only thing I'm still missing is my Netflix for 6 months…. Unsure how to get this at the moment.

  • +1

    hi all

All 3 of us got the phone and watch today. Mine at 3 pm ( suburban delivery - normal time for us)

Watch and sim in one box ( micro not nano?)

    Phone in the other box.

And my invoice says "6 months Netflix" which comes in the form of an SMS code .. up to 2 weeks later.

    thats a wrap then?

    THANK YOU OZBARGAIN!

  • Those who have received their G4 from Optus, does it include an extra cover and/or the quadbeat 3 headphones ? Ta

    • +1

I received both. Weirdly enough a silver cover + the tan leather with quadbeat 3 headphones too

      • Thanks, much appreciated. Would have expected a gold plastic cover to match the tan leather, that is weird.

  • Odd - I got a gold cover ( as advertised) and …. I just looked Quadbeet 3 headphones. are they good ? I just assumed FOC headphones are worth what you pay…

Why gold to "match" the tan leather? they are alternate covers so will never be seen together … I'll swap my gold for a silver any day …

    • I was talking about matching the buttons (power/volume) with the cover, looks a bit odd having a silver cover with gold buttons

  • aha - good point but those buttons look like a soft silver on mine, however the ring around the camera is gold..
