Where Do You Get Your Razors From?

I'm wondering how OzBarganers get their shaving products. I've been signed up to the ManBrand Shave Club for a few months ($6.50 a month) and they've been reliable and good. However, there's probably more cost effective or better options. :)

Can't say anything constructive but real OzBargainers don't shave :) For special occasions one may pull out the scissors or an electric trimmer.

  • 12 pack of disposable twin blade from Woolies.
Tried the home brand, they were adequate. Shick/Gillette is better. Works out around $1 month with my thin, straggly beard.

I use Dollar Shave Club. Their executive blade is pretty good, $10/month for 4 blades. I don't go through blades all that quickly and they have an option for delivery once every 2 months which is really handy.
Gillette have just started the subscription delivery model as well. I think they are a better blade, but way way overpriced.

    • +1 for the Dollar Shave Club razors, Used to use the Schick disposables but the difference is a really nice shave. Use the 4 blade ones every 2 months but the blades are so good mine last longer.

  • Gillette Fusion, shave usually twice a day and one blade lasts around 3 months. Generally wait until I see them for around $3 a blade on special/clearance then buy bulk.

edit: Tried some fakes from AliExpress one time and they're useless, tear your face apart. Threw them away.

Aldi disposables, cheap, easy to use & last a few shaves.

Same here. They work a treat for me.

I am in Sydney and get my Gillette Mach 3 turbo blades from Paddy's at Flemington $12 for 8 blades. Genuine

  • Mach 3, I usually buy from COTD at about $18 for 8pk instead of about $24 at Coles (but keep in mind shipping is extra at COTD). It's the best razor blade I've ever used; close, safe and comfortable shave.

Blades last me a month easily shaving once per day, if you get the same mileage it's $3 per month even from Coles.

    • I want to change from Fusion to Mach 3 but it doesn't have a power version in Aus.
Power seems like a gimmick but I miss it when I don't have it.

  • Schick Xtreme 3 Subzero. 5 cartridges in a pack for around $8.50, less than $2 each. Much cheaper than most cartridge razors, but I like them the most. I find 4 or 5 blades on a cartridge too many, it makes it too wide for upper lip & sideburns, but 3 blades is perfect. They stopped selling these in Australia for a year but they came back a few months ago. I was ordering from Amazon, but now it's cheaper to stock up at Coles or Woolies when they have a special. I have a thick beard and go through a cartridge each week which is better than I get with others.

in 2008 I bought a 20 pack of disposible razors from clints crazy bargains in Albury. the brand is Dorco. they are awesome and have lasted and lasted. certainly every time I go abroad and stay at hotel I keep the complimentary razor. but the dorco ones have lasted and lasted until now I am down to my last one. admittedly my facial requires shaving every 3 days. but still the dorcos have been excellent.

  • Depends, what are you shaving? Legs, Face, Underarms?

I bought a double edge safety razor a few months ago. If you're looking for cheap this is the long term way to go. the shavers range from $10-200 and blades $10-20 per 100. I got a merkur 34c off amazon with 100 blade sample pack for about $60USD. I use a blade every 2 shaves, could probably use them a few more.

  • I prefer the Schick disposables and usually just pick them up when shopping. The last lot I got from catch of the day .. 30 for about $10 delivered one time hot special.

I'm surprised anyone here would be willing to sign up for a continuous supply of a non-discounted product. The correct options are:
    a) buy up when a bargain gets posted; or
    b) stop shaving or use a blunt blade until a bargain comes around.

ALDI has double edged disposable for so cheap, the generic brand Coles ones are good but ALDI beats them
