BBQ Dragon Kamado $299 at Barbeques Galore down from $600

60

Saw it in store as well. Originally $600 down to $299. I don't know when it started, but unless your local store has stock it may take upto 2 weeks for stock to come in. Delivery option is extra ~$89. Stock could be limited.

There are other much more expensive Kamado BBQ, but I think that this is an excellent price to introduce the Kamado style of cooking BBQs.

Take an ancient Japanese cooking method, add all the mod-cons, and you get the ingenious Dragon Kamado.

Japanese for ‘stove’, the Dragon Kamado barbeque can barbeque, smoke, grill, bake, and roast, and uses charcoal or Heat beads™ to cook.

With its insulated, double-skin construction, the Dragon Kamado’s high-temp painted steel outer body finish is touch-safe so it’s safe to be used around kids. The Dragon Kamado also comes with a trolley which features side shelves and a bottom shelf for extra storage.

The adjustable vent in the top hat of the Dragon Kamado allows for airflow control, and therefore cooking temperature control. Keeping a close eye on the cooking temperature is easy thanks to the built-in temperature gauge. High heats can be achieved and held inside the kettle for high temperature grilling, or drop the temperature for sustained slow cooking. You can even use a wok with the Dragon Kamado.

The firebox is constructed of vitreous enamelled steel, and the included warming rack is chrome plated steel. A removable ash collector makes cleaning out your Dragon Kamado quick and easy.

The Dragon Kamado comes with a 12 month structural warranty, and may require some assembly.

  • been this price on their website for a while now. I think its the same as the bunnings Akorn model which is 499

  • Similar but different to the Akorn. IMO the Akorn is better built, and comes with all the accessories. The Dragon doesn't come with the heat deflector (extra) and I don't think it has an extra tier/warmer thing at all, whereas the Akorn includes both.

I actually asked my local BBQ Galore why this was cheap and they told me that it's because they don't sell many because the Kamado Joe (~$1000) is far superior, and that basically the Dragon sucks so they need to price it so cheap to sell any. Yeah, they clearly aren't good salespeople…

  • I have a Kamado Joe and they are definitely worth spending more on if you are wanting to keep it for a long time eg 10-15 years or longer, buy one of these you will buy again within that time frame, its what suits your budget and expectations.

  • Thanks a lot to the poster. I got one yesterday KAMADO DRAGON unit from BBQ Galore Fountain gate store Victoria lovely staff to talk to. Quality was beyond my expectations & the cooking is totally different ball game but the taste is just wow you can't compare with conventional BBQ. Fully recommend this product 👍
