  • Thanks!!

  • AFAIK It has to be registered as an Australian charity, which it doesn't appear to be (ACNC register). So I would say that no, you cant claim it as a tax deduction.

    Great cause/deal though.

Even if it was, the fact that you're receiving something as part of the transaction means it's not tax deductible anyway.

      • if you get something for your 'charity', it's not really charity, but a business transaction.

  • Doesn't let me place the donation. After entering my paypal or credit card details, asks me to 'correct' my location information… the state/province box is grayed out when I select Australia. Do I need to put in a US address?

    • It looks greyed out but you can type in it, so for example enter Vic 3000

      • I can't, when I mouse-over it and try to click I just get this blocked symbol. I can't click it, can't alt tab to it, can't select it in any way.

    • There's a hint text in the postcode field like VIC 3000 so put your state there. The actual state field will be N/A

      • [edit]

Don't mind me, it was a funds issue at my end. All sorted

  • The only thing I don't like is how they ask for your phonenumber to no doubt phone me & ask for more. Is anyone else using a random number?

    • You can use any number you want if you dont want to provide them with your real number.

      • +2

Make sure the number is 867-5309!

        • +1

And put your name down as Jenny.

Just on the donation, even if they were Australian registered you can't claim it back, as you are getting something of value in return

  • Thanks OP! This is a great deal and no doubt a worthy charity. US$5 isn't gonna break the bank.
Just got a call from CitiBank confirming my transaction haha - gotta love the credit card protection teams! All good.

  • EDIT: ~~not sure if this can also be claimed as a tax deduction perhaps someone here can let us know. ~~

It can't. You can only claim a donation as a tax deduction if you didn't get anything back for it. Raffle tickets are not tax deductable. Nor are door to door chocolates sold by school kids. In this case, you got a game, so no tax deduction.

  • Has anyone got the separate email for the key yet?

    • Not yet. Got the confirmation email this morning, hoping it'll come through by tomorrow.

    • +2

Looks like you won't see it until during next week, at the earliest. Seems a bit odd, and they must have some sort of manual process in sending out the keys.

"Donors will receive 1 email confirming their contribution immediately following their donation, and then will receive a separate email with instructions on how to redeem their free PC digital copy (by early July 2015)."

      • Huh, interesting. Oh well! Hopefully they raise a good bit of money, at least!

      • Code comes in a couple of weeks after its to late to cancel a donation.

To not have it as an immediate system like Humble Bundle do doesn't seem right to me.

    • FYI guys, I got the email with the activation key today :)

However I only got ONE activation key.

  • Thanks OP :)

  • So what's the game like?

  • Got my steam code!

  • I donated this morning and received my steam code (and activated successfully) within 2 hours

  • Code arrived yay!!!

  • Got my code this morning after donating yesterday :)

    • Yep - same here! Thanks lancedefrance.

  • Just a question, is it 2 steam keys for every donation or do i have to make two separate donations for both keys?

    • +1

      I only received one.

I then realise that it said 'Each donor is limited to receiving 2 free PC digital copies of Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut during this campaign' - that mean if you do another donation under the same email I believe you can only receive maximum copy of two per email address.

  • Cool, thanks for the post.

  • Does anyone know if this still works?
I can't seem to find a way to register or pay the money for the site!
    THanks,!

Edit - I missed it, expired 5th July.
