150GB VPN Service for £1.00 Per Year (£3.00 for 1,000GB Per Year)

81

It's been quite a while since we last ran our £1/year VPN offer, however it's back until the end of the month! There is limited stock, so we cannot guarantee that it will run for the entire duration, and we'd advise getting your orders in early to avoid missing out.

So we'll keep this email short and sweet. The offer comes with 150GB/year bandwidth which you can use across all 24 of our locations (we've just added an additional 2 in New Zealand, and 1 in Las Vegas), however you can upgrade to 1000GB/year for an additional £2 here.

At VPN.sh we're running a limited time offer! Get a VPN with a 150GB/year bandwidth allowance, access to 24 worldwide locations, and have up to 3 concurrent connections for just £1 per year.

This expires on 30th June 2015.

Looks like you lock the price in for life.

Also, three concurrent sessions is a great allowance!

  • If anybody has any questions, feel free to direct them towards me and I'll get them answered as soon as possible. You can also extend this offer for a couple of years if you wish - just purchase multiple of the offer product, then open a support ticket letting me know that you wish to merge them for multiple years.

  • you can upgrade to 1000GB/year for an additional £2 here

    Where?

    • It looks like the OP has copy and pasted our offer email, and so the link hasn't passed through! Here's the link. Could a moderator please include this on the original post?

      • tried the link, but gave additional £3 (instead of £2 as per above)

        • OP states its an additional 2 pounds, so 3 pounds in total

        • +1

@crowsnest bomber: understood, as stated i've tried that and gave additional £3 (total of £4).. thus my question.. i may interpret it differently
*edit: i removed the £1 deal to have only 1000GB £3 deal, the wording can be assumed one has to add them together for total of £3 (150GB £1+1000GB £2).. cheers.

        • @timhobart:

Apologies for the poor wording! Glad to hear you've figured out the pricing structure :). Give me a shout if you need a hand with anything!

        • @LiamWithers

Beyond my pending ticket, for Refund… I have some other Questions:

Why ISN'T this HIGHLY-RESTRICTIVE service like a Scam?

Ie, What NORMAl usage(s) of a VPN are ALLOWED here? :-/

What ACCEPTABLE USAGE can reasonably be EXPECTED to consume 1 TB in a Year?

        • @LiamWithers: in my opinion, it's more of mislead wording than poor one, which lead people into incorrect purchase as proven by another person below (it's a "choice" of other product, not an additional £2).. if poor wording, needs correction then?

        • @timhobart: I can completely see what you mean, it was never my intention to mislead people with the purchases. This is my fault.

However, it was sent out in an email, so I can't alter the wording now! That said, maybe a moderator could edit the OP to reflect this?

        • @IVI: Has your ticket been responded to? If not, could you PM me the ticket ID?

There's plenty of acceptable uses to consume 1TB in a year. That works out to less than 100GB per month, which in reality could be very easily achieved with some YouTube and Netflix, alongside standard browsing with up to 3 concurrent devices (the maximum we allow to access our service at once).

We simply cannot hold our hands up and tell people to go and partake in illegal activities on our servers. Everything is generally fairly relaxed, and I'm sure you'll realise this once using the service.

        • ignore what was here before…

        • @LiamWithers:

          YouTube isn't blocked here.
IsnIsn'Isn'Isn'tIsn't NeNetNetFlix streamistreamingstreaming? K/b glitch, sorsorry

        • @LiamWithers: Is your profile set to Accept Private Messages. If so, how to send one to you?

Anyway, as log as VPN.SH refunds my 1 UKP to the Paypal account it came from,
it shouldn't hurt to show everyone:

          • [Ticket ID: 201659] Request for Partial Refund.

See a subsequent post (by me) for reason.

    • Pick link for 150 GB or 1,000 GB.
There's NO "Upgrade," just a choice.

Buying 150 GB later "upgrading" costs 3 UKP(!)
(I await a 1 UKP REFUND, after making that mistake.)

      • Apologies all, I posted at 1am in the morning and clearly messed a few things up.
Thanks for the Rep and Mods clearing things up!

I have been with them for more than 2 years now. Not a heavy user, but rarely notice any issues.
Sometimes endpoints are bogged down, but there is always another one in the location that I can use that works.

  • Seems that a lot of the reasons for having a VPN may not be allowed unless I am interpreting this wrong?
I see it as no streaming of video , no pr0n and no torrents, is that correct?

    Audio/Video Streaming:
Audio/Video Streaming is not hosting friendly. As such, VPN.SH asks users to be mindful of other users wanting to access content. Offending accounts will be notified if issues arise.

    Adult-Oriented Content:
VPN.SH does not allow adult content and will suspend/terminate any offending account.

    Large File Policy:
VPN.SH is not for file hosting and distribution - as such, customers may not upload any files larger than 150MB in size that are observed to be available for the sole purpose of download. Such files include but are not limited to .ISO, audio/video files, .EXE files. If you are unsure whether your file is against this policy, please e-mail [email protected].

Sounds like they are just covering themselves from legal action by saying that, however if they really do enforce these rules then many people on this service are going to have issues.

Just fork out the $US39.95/year for PrivateInternetAccess.com instead, which works out at about $AU4/month and doesn't have any data usage caps.

      • +2

As above, we have to cover ourselves. We do not allow torrenting on our servers, that's not what our service is for, and we're not fond of picking up the bills when the legal issues that come with torrenting arrive through the post.

We don't allow the specific downloading of adult content. You may or may not be surprised, but the adult entertainment market isn't best pleased when they don't get paid for their work, and so we don't encourage this. Of course there are online streaming sites which people like to access, and whilst our T&C's do not actively encourage accessing these, it's a whole lot less likely to cause any issues than downloading content to your machine through our servers. This does not mean that we allow it - just a heads up on keeping yourself from receiving legal bills when not using our servers, as we've had plenty of experience and feel you should know what NOT to do.

Audio and video streaming is very unlikely to actually cause any issues - again we have that in place to stop people outright abusing the service. Opening up 20 tabs and streaming 4K video is likely to make the experience a little less fun for all of our other clients.

We're not the "bad guys", and don't want to hinder your experience. The whole point of our T&C's are to provide a better experience for everybody (ourselves included!). If you wish to talk about any of our policies with me personally, then you can email me on [email protected] and I'll gladly answer anything you may ask to the best of my ability.

To cut a long story short - read the T&C's, and don't do anything too outrageous, and it's unlikely you'll run into any problems.

        Cheers,
        Liam

  • Where are domains ending with ".SH" located?

    • +2

It would have been faster for you to use google than ask

      • I'd miss half of. The story.

    • +1

We're a UK based company. The ".sh" domain is technically Saint Helena, however when we first started our company, it was basically some tech lingo for running a shell script. It just ended up sticking :).

The servers are fairly quick. Note the Australian servers have become so unreliable that I haven't gotten them to work for about 2mths.

But the US, UK, Dutch servers are fairly quick. The LA server seems to be reliable.
But note they did a "pre-sale" on their "Fixed Route" service back in March, yet they still haven't gotten them running (although they happily took the money).

Summary: Cheap and quick. But for the price don't count on reliability or service.

    • "Note the Australian servers have become so unreliable that I haven't gotten them to work for about 2mths."

Will this be fixed OP? I got the service for the sole purpose of using the Australian servers. I will be cancelling if they are unusable.

      • No, it's the above (well 3quid) plan. I've had it for about 18mths now. it's only a few dollars, so no stress.

But I also used the Aust servers for VOIP 3g/4g. It was flaky initially, then around Sept/Oct last year, it started working a treat (very rare to be down & always quick) until about March, then nothing. I just tried again now & I am able to connect. But I wouldn't count on it being reliable.

It's disappointing as I also purchased the fixed route early bird/pre-sale which was supposed to start in April, but we're still waiting.

        • We've had some issues over the last couple of months with our Australia servers, and frequently only a couple of them have been accessible. We're in the process of getting this resolved, and as of right now things should be more reliable than a month or two ago. I'm working hard to get these servers running as expected at all times.

In regards to FixedRoute, we'll hopefully have the services activated tomorrow. I've got my hands full at the moment with orders coming in from this VPN.sh offer, so just need to keep on top of things for the next few hours, and should then be able to get all of the backlogged orders at FixedRoute accepted. You will be compensated for the lost time, and you have my word that this is something I'm going to be getting resolved as soon as possible. I know it's irritating to have to wait so long - and it's only been because of a third party messing us around, who we have now dismissed and brought everything in-house.

  • Can anyone vouch for the service and the company?

    • I've been using their service for over a year already and am quite happy. Granted, I'm not a very heavy user of VPN. I mainly connect to the VPN from my phone when I'm in an unsecured wifi hotspot (as long as wifi hotspot is not configured to reject VPN connections) and the speed has been satisfactory. I've not tried using it for accessing US netflix content, but it works for geo-restricted youtube content, so I don't see why I won't.
For me, at the end of the day it only costs me less than a cup of coffee for the entire year and so far, I believe I've gotten more value out of it than what the cuppa can do. :)

      • Thanks for the feedback, hope you can continue to enjoy the service!

  • +1

Can't torrent? That's like 90% of the use case scenarios!

    • Issues caused by torrenting also increase our monthly bills by huge amounts. If we encouraged torrenting, we'd have to be happy paying the big legal bills, in which case we wouldn't be able to do offers like this.

    • +1

for some perhaps, but torrenting sucks huge amounts of BW & saturate links.
Some of us want to use it for geo-relocating & secure internet usage.

  • I have a question for you Liam. I submitted a support about 2 months ago about all the Australian servers being down. The only reply I got back was very generic. One look into what I was advised to do would have shown the error messages I was seeing on my end. I occasionally borrow my friends PIA account and throughout those 2 months I was really considering moving to PIA full-time. I tried to contact you via email, but my emails kept bouncing back. All I want to know really is what happened to all the Australia servers in the last 2 months.

P.S Australia 4 just went down today.

    • Hey Triviums,

Sorry about this! We had some issues with our email server, but it's up and running again now - feel free to drop me an email again if needed! The Australia servers should be up and running fairly well again (you may need to redownload Australia 1's OpenVPN profile though, as it's been updated). Australia 4 has had to be turned off for a couple of days whilst we investigate an issue that occurred there, but it'll be back up and running on the 1st July.

I really am sorry for these issues - I don't want to present a poor reflection of myself or my company, and hope we can get things back on track for you.

      Liam

I was with these guys for 2 years.
Submitted 2 support tickets that the UK IP was not working, but heard no action for months.
So when the service came up for renewal - I simply walked away.
I know it's only one quid, but if it's not working, it's hardly a Bargain.
    Buyer beware.
    It's a NO from me.

Ordered just to give it a ago for 1 pound. Only need it couple of times a month for uk streaming, hope it works well

    • +2

they're UK based, so I image that server will be reliable. (I haven't had issues with it).
      It should be fairly quick

I just did a speed test to London
      UK VPN 4.8Mbps down & 0.7Mbps up
      None 4.8Mbps down & 1.74 up

& just to boast speedtest locally in Oz
      94.6Mbps down & 2.2Mbps up

Picked up this freebie and only use it when I need to. No complaints. Will subscribe at the end of the year. + from me.

  • @Liam,

Could you please add more Japan or Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong) server?

    • -1

We may be able to add another Japan server over the next couple of weeks. Singapore/Hong Kong is still at least a month or so away.

      • looking forward to that, keep up the good stuffs, thanks +++
