iPhone 6 from $840 and First Month's Plan Is Free at iiNet

160

Similar to this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194084 except now the first month's usage fee and sim fee are waived. iPhones cheaper than Apple - $840, $960, $1080 for 16GB, 64 GB and 128GB respectively. Data is doubled if you're an existing or new iiNet broadband customer.

Also if you're not interested in the iPhone but rather the sim only plans, it's month to month and is free (including the sim) until the end of July. So choose the largest plan (for the first month) for unlimited calls/text and 2/4GB depending on if you're an iiNet broadband customer.

  • Thanks OP. Do you know if the iPhones are locked to iiNet? Also do you know if the first month (and SIM) free applies if you buy a handset, or just on SIM only plans?

Edit - FAQ shows handset is not locked. Am still interested if the first month is free with handsets, and if so, how the first month is credited back to you.

    • I'm trying to find out about this as well. I think the credit goes back to your account balance, but I read somewhere in account payments that there is an option to request for a refund.

  • Also, is it the same deal as in, you can cancel the plan, and keep the phone without any extra payment?

  • Internode has the same deal going until 30 June - in case you've got broadband with them and want the double mobile data.

  • I believe it is the first 'full' month that is free. So, if you activate and your first month is pro-rata, you will be credited back the second month (first full month). Stops people from being short changed with their free month.
If you are wary, cancel the plan immediately (or don't activate to begin with).

  • Thanks op.

The iiNet plans are on Optus (floptus) and they are expensive. I pay $20 on Telechoice with Telstra 3G what would cost me $30 with iiNet. If you are ok with 3G instead of 4g as I am, Telechoice represents much better value.

I'd personally skip the iiNet mobile phon plans. The outright iPhone 6 price is good. The 6 plus price is ok too.

    • Just looked at telechoice. The plans are worse than iiNet unless you take a 24 month contract. Or am I missing something?

Eg. $20 on telechoice for $300 calls and 300mb, versus $15 iiNet for $200 calls and 400mb (if bundled) when both are off contract.

  • Just called iinet and confirmed the following.
    - Unlocked handset
    - Delivery time 3-5 working days aust wide
    - Cancelling contract means upfront cost of handset due.

  • Just an update for those interested. I ordered the phone with the plan at around 9pm on 30/06/15 and just received the phone and everything at 2pm today (2 day delivery).

Will keep people posted on the process of cancelling the plan and just paying the $840.

    • Cheers mate. Yes please keep us posted!

  • I think this has expired. I do not see the mention of usage fee and sim fee being waived at http://www.iinet.net.au/phone/mobile-phones/.

    • Yep, confirmed. Just spoke with them over the phone and was told that the promotion ended in June.

  • I think iinet pulled a fast one on us. I specifically remember the promotion lasting until the end of July. But I can't check now b3cause it's no longer there.
