More Information about AmEx Cards

Hi all,

I need to buy few things from Harvey Norman, and there is $50 AMEX cashback offer. I have asked my mates at work and friends if they have one they can share, but unfortunately no one has.

So, I popped on to AMEX website and thought of applying there. I am a bit of newbie in this. There are a few cards which doesnt have any annual fee, do you think if i can get one of those cards, I can claim AMEX benefits?

Also, how much time does it take to get an AMEX card. I think HN offer is till 30th June.

Any comment, suggestions Please let me know.

    You won't have enough time to get one. Usually they take about 10 working days or so. I recommend the Amex Platinum Edge, free return flight every year for $199 i think it's up to. Not sure what Amex cars are fee free these days if any. But if you would make use of the free return flight every year, then it's a no brainer getting the platinum edge.

    Also there is a referral page for this card for bonus points, or i'd be happy to give you mine if you do go for this card.

      +1, it's too late to take up that particular offer.

      I don't know how the free cards go in terms of offers, but these statement credit offers can vary between cards. For example, I have 2 AMEX cards and the Harvey Norman offer you mentioned is available on one card but not the other.

      As escimojoe mentioned, the Platinum Edge card has a fee but is pretty easy to justify financially if you'd make use of the free domestic flight feature, plus it has a very good reward points earn rate for petrol+supermarket purchases and the occasional statement credit offer (such as this).

      I got the Qantas Discovery CC and a supplementary card for my partner. No annual fee. Both cards have the HN offer and other offers.

          Yes, it is a Amex Qantas Discovery. I have been using for years. Please see the Amex referrals link below provided by holysmoke

        You're better off with the Priceline Amex offer as you get $200+ worth of items from Priceline and only sacrifice 1,500 points.
