FREE Masterclass: Prepare for Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification

590

Charles Sturt University and IT Masters are hosting a short course to help you prepare for the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification.

This short course will also prepare for PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification which is an entry-level certification for project practitioners. Designed for those with less project experience, the CAPM certification is intended to demonstrate candidates’ understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management.

The afterhours, online course will run over 5 weeks with webinar lectures being delivered by ex PMI Sydney Chapter Professional Development Director and member of PMI’s global Ethics Review Committee, Peter O’Driscoll.

The course is free to undertake and all materials will be supplied to you.

  • So what is this actually for, I've read through the website and the wiki page and have no idea why I would do this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Though IT is not my field (biomedical graduate) so I'm sure it would be beneficial for IT professionals or at least have something to do with it.

    • If you want to be certified for project management, this free course is a preparatory course prior to enrolling in the cert course.

Please edit title to reflect this is a preparatory course, and does not offer PMP certification without additional courses/expense.

    • Thanks for this, updated.

  • How many PDU's is this course equivalent to?

  • Misleading. CAPM is not PMP. Both PMI certifications, but PMP has far more requirements to obtain.

Thanks OP, I was looking into getting a taste of PM for my IT business. This seems like the perfect way to try it out without much commitment or any costs.

I have an interest and some work experience in, but no formal training of, PM.

I have signed up. Is this course suitable for a general understanding / knowledge of the field?

Thanks, another thing to learn while I'm unemployed!

I don't see how this qualifies you to sit the CAPM exam… ?

    http://www.pmi.org/Certification/Certified-Associate-in-Proj…
To apply for the CAPM, you need to have:

A secondary degree (high school diploma or the global equivalent)

    AND
At least 1,500 hours of project experience

    OR
23 hours of project management education by the time you sit for the exam.

However this course is only a total of 5 hours (including "exam" week, which isn't the actual CAPM exam)

EDIT: Sorry I'm not meaning to neg this deal I just don't want to spend my time doing this if I can't sit the exam at the end and I'm sure other people would probably like to know this.
