Anyone Had Issues with The PC Version of Batman: Arkham Knight?

It seems that WB has pulled B:AK from the Steam store because of technical problems

Anyone on here been stung by any problems? I no longer do day-one or pre-orders so this doesn't cause any issues for me.

  • Yes. Literally everyone has. Just look at steam and metacritic.

Yet another broken AAA release. The Steam and Metacritic scores will reflect their release for the entire life of the game because they couldn't get it right on release.

I have heard the bulk of problems on Steam Reviews happen to be with GTX 970 cards, despite being well-within the scope of the game's graphical requirements. But I've also read a lot of other cards are having issues too.

    • Tbf it's only broken for the Master Race. It's great on PS4.

      • Yeah, I heard it was yet another awful (well, I don't think I've heard this kind of a major catastrophe) PC port happening.

        • AC Unity.

        • @rhz: AC Unity was bad on consoles too, it wasn't only on PC. However, Mortal Kombat was fine on consoles and had a disasterous release, as nobody could get past the opening title screen.

  • I own it but haven't played it yet. I pre-ordered it a month back and then bought 2 980ti's on Tuesday that came with two codes. So now that I cannot claim it on steam (maybe I can, just not via the store) this puts me in a crap position of trying to sell my spare keys let alone actually play my game. Rocksteady are pathetic for pulling a stunt like this.

  • warners have put the sale of it on hold until they resolve the issues.
    :(

  • I just played then for 30 min. GTX 970 with i5 4690k, everything on high 1080p. Ran very smoothly, was waiting for lag when I had to use batmobile for first time but was still smooth without even a minor stutter. Was capped at 30 fps though so had minor screen tearing, just wanted to test how it was with fps cap first, will uncap and play again :)

edit: removed cap and am getting 60-80 fps with everything running smoothly on foot and minor stutter now when in batmobile. Not a fan of the batmobile though, wish it wasn't a part of the game.

    • The reason that I haven't been one of these people stung by the bad release is because I felt like they forced the Batmobile into it. Transversing the city was easy from the sky, and I can't imagine the Batmobile changes much. I didn't buy this game because I felt like they were just copy-pasting the previous game and shoving the Batmobile in there to pretend it's a whole new game.

Next year they'll release the same game with a Batplane or Batsub, to critical acclaim. Rinse and repeat til you're as tired as Assassin's Creed.

  • Yeah I will be wanting to play in at least 4k though. I am sure I can run the other batman's fairly smoothly in 4k surround.

  • Valve should waive their 2 hour restriction for refunds considering that WB themselves removed the game.

    • It's 2 hours in playtime, not 2 hours since purchase, so that shouldn't be a problem. Most people with graphical issues and excessively low framerate wouldn't even get that far. But I agree anyway.

The biggest issue is removing the 14 days limit, as a lot of people pre-ordered this much earlier in the year.

      • +1

People may have been trying to alter settings or restart campaigns which would likely put them over the 2 hour playtime limit. If you're a fan of the series I could see you desperately trying to play it for more than 2 hours.

When Valve announced their refund policy I think they mentioned that even if you were over the 2 hour or 14 day restriction you could request a refund and they would assess the claim anyway. Given that WB themselves pulled the title, I would think it should be a "no questions asked" response to refund requests.

  • Reading about this just before hand and how high end Nvidia users got screwed I literally LOL'ed at the title.

Everyone on PC has an issue with it.

The PS4 port is stellar, the Xbox same too but 900p.

    • I have this on PC and had no issues! Even running an old rig with a GTX 670…

    • Yeah I have 0 issues on my end, GTX 970 - 30hours play through and only 70% fully completed.

      Been fantastic!

  • It's funny that Rocksteady suggested that PC gamers basically turn the GFX settings to low and run the game at 1280x720.
