Best non-stick pan?

Hi all,

Tried all kinds of cheaper non stick pans e.g. homebrand, Tefal over the years. Even got tricked into buying Flavorstone, but suffice to say it's money down the drain. It's probably good for a month of regular use, but after that it's just shit.

Now, what's the best non stick pan money can buy? (or should I say for everyday Australian) But seriously I almost willing to pay whatever needed to buy a good lasting one. Of course I'd appreciate one with best value price since I'm in OzB forum after all ;) Sick of keep changing so many brands over the years for something so important in my daily life. Mainly need it to cook steak, egg, pancake that's all…But I need a brand which is easy to clean and most importantly LAST for long time!

Appreciate your advice! Cheers!

I got two of the titanium model with detachable handles.

Ordered from amazon UK about 2 years ago. Search for Woll on ozbargain and you will find heaps of info from the community.

        • Is $142 considered to be a good price? I've bought stone coated non-stick pan and find that it lasts me up to 6 months and slowly deteriorates but I haven't paid more than $30-$40 each time.

    • I actually thought you said WOW..I was like wow what…LOL

Never heard of the brand…why Woll though?

      • Many Ozbargainers will have a subscription. It's also accessible via libraries. Always worth consulting!

  • Bear in mind, that care for your non-stick pan is important as well.

Scrubbing it with a the rough end of the sponge, or sudden temperature changes (filling it with cold water right after taking it off the stove) etc will all degrade the non-stick surface a lot quicker.

    • ^^ This.

We bought two Scanpan pans only to have my mother destroy them. She even deep fried with one of them!

    • I never washed with the rough end of the sponge, but possibly at fault for rinsing with cold water too quickly…especially when cooking steak..

  • Cheap, abuse and replace regularly.
    Or cast iron

All nonstick from what I have read is the same, PTFE, stonedine, flavorstone, teflon, same same but different.
Dupont owns the teflon name but not the chemical composition, so the same chemical composition is called many things.

    • You sure about this? Surely the black stuff coming off the cheap kmart has to mean something

  • The best value non-stick pan we've had is a RACO one. It has lasted much longer than the Tefal and Scanpan ones we've bought in the past. I got it in David Jones' sale 2 years for $30 (instead of about $90 - it was the biggest frying pan, they were all reduced to $30 no matter what the size). We use it 3-4 times per week for meat, scrambled eggs and pancakes/pikelets. In the last couple of months it has developed an area where everything sticks - but the previous pans we had were a lot more expensive and didn't last anywhere near 2 years. Probably if I'd spent $90 I might have felt a little different, but for $30 it has been an excellent pan.
