Virgin Australia flight to Fiji, was told that the 23 kilo's now is only for one bag only up to that weight not multiple bags making up the 23 kg allowance and there would be a $120 AUD charge oer extra bag after the first bag. Virgin are certainly not a low cost carrier anymore!!!

Yeah sorry OP but virgin are pretty up front about their baggage policies and charges should you not comply. Yes I agree its a 100% rip off, but its not like they are hidden charges.
Wear all your clothes then do an inception - a bag inside a bag inside a bag.
Now you are 23kg heavier and only checking in one bag!
Besides which,,"low cost carrier" means that the CARRIER has low costs (in terms of what they have to pay pilots, attendants etc) not that they necessarily pass those reduced costs on to the public.
Airlines like Qantas are burdened by decades of past agreements on salaries, conditions, rosters etc that they can't unwind, so that's why they have to start up entire new airlines with more flexible arrangements, like Jetstar.
So you're still on a low cost carrier, it's just not a cheap carrier!
Yep, that's rough but pretty clearly stated unfortunately. If I had time I'd run to the shop and find a big duffel bag I could combine them in to!
Watch out for the 'cheap' jetstar fares that appear on here as well.

No, Virgin aren't positioning themselves as a low cost carrier anymore and they haven't for a while now. I feel like one piece of 23kg baggage per passenger is pretty reasonable as part of the fare but each to their own
