No IMEI, No Problem!

While all our competitors require an IMEI number to activate your SIM card right before your travel date, WE DO NOT REQUIRE IMEI NUMBERS from you! This is because we don’t use third party activation portals, we activate via T-Mobile themselves. This means your card is preactivated for any date before January 1st 2016 through the most reliable source available, T Mobile themselves. Anyone who asks for an IMEI is using a third party to activate, and sometimes issues can arise from this. We don’t and this works out easier for all. Keep your private information in your own hands and avoid sharing this information where it is not needed!

  • Even cheaper than T-mobile themselves! Cost $60USD++ according to t-mobile website.

  • hi rep,
I use HTC one (M7) Australian version, does this mean that I could only get 3G speed in US?

    • I believe so, you should get decent 3G speeds though!

  • Now I'm sad that I bought from your previous deal (2 x $29 Simple Mobile 2GB SIMs)… Waaaaaaaaaa :(

    Good deal though!!!

  • Hi rep I am also visiting Canada. Does this sim work in Canada. If not can u pls recommend a sim. Thanks

    • Unfortunately this is a USA only SIM card. To be quite honest I am not too familiar with Canadian SIMS, heard very mixed reviews on a few companies but nothing credible really. Sorry!

  • Thanks ordered one.
I ordered a couple a few months ago, worked well. One SIM I used 27GB, really useful.

    Cheers.

    • +1

Wow that's a lot of data! haha

      • Yeah uploaded my photos and videos to OneDrive :)

  • Been waiting for this. Ordered 2 :)

  • Hi OP, what are your suggestions for a Mexico and Central America holiday with regards to SIMs and data?

    • Hi cymon,
To be honest we are very unfamiliar with the South American market, thought it is on our radar to look into soon. Sorry I can't help right now though!

  • +2

Used these a few times in the USA - always worked so well!

Great company to deal with to.

Just ordered 1 for my Aug Trip.

  • Hi Store Rep,
Just ordered but put a date after 1/09/2015
also is possible to update shipping address?

    • Hey mate,
Can you please PM me on here with new address and transaction details and we will look into activation date and how we can work around it, no dramas!

  • OP, it says NO tethering service. If I use it on my phone, does it mean my wife couldn't use some of the data on her phone to browse her fav instagrams? Thanks

    • Hi mate, you can share the sim but unfortunately no she wouldn't be able to connect wireless and browse off the network the SIM provides.

    • Just thought would chip in… Re tethering

If you have an unlocked android phone u can buy tethering app to get around tethering restrictions: the carrier thinks you are using the phones browser. As far I know it is not illegal to do it but caveat emptor :) Used it for years to get around optus's stupid tethering rules. Now on an iphone :(

  • +1

Does it have to be activated by 1st Sep, or used up? I'll be gone from mid-august till mid-september. Will this be ok for then?

    • +2

Just activated by so you could get it first used August 31st if you like and it would work for 30 days after that! :)

      • thanks. Just bought 2 for that trip. One for iphone 4 and one for 5.

  • +1

Got one, again, thank you so much, T-Mobile rocks!!

  • Is there any reason why TSD sims say no tethering when t-mobile and other resellers say up to 5gb tethering? Great deal for those who dont need tethering though

    • Hey mate, T-Mobile are currently running 2 prepaid plans, one with tethering available and one without. It should be noted that the one without is the new plans and has more support and reliability, hence why we choose to provide these. The older plans use 3rd party independent activation systems that in recent months have been sketchy to say the least. The old plans are great but T-Mobile are slowly distancing themselves from them it seems!

  • +2

I crossed the country with one of these just last month and it's important to be aware of the following:

    • A number of Australian model phones will not receive 4G on T-Mobile. You should always look at http://www.willmyphonework.net/ . I knew my LG G2 would not get 4G, so I went prepared for 3G.

    • T-Mobile's coverage (for telephony) was patchy outside of large urban areas, and even in some parts of Los Angeles. Data was mostly EDGE outside of large urban areas.

    • T-Mobile's website is temperamental if you try to use it to monitor your usage (it doesn't play nice with some phone browsers; or maybe it just doesn't play nice except onb a good day!).

    • Thanks for the detailed feedback mate! Very useful :)

    • I also went to the states last month with this sim on a LG g2. I second that Data was mostly edge.
Got to LA and inserted sim. Got connected straight away but could not get connected to the internet. This was a huge disappointment because we were relying on it to get us back to the hotel using the phone GPS system. Any way I called up T mobile and after just over an hour of transferring asking for my pin code? the operator gave me the work around and got connected. Very stressful as just got off a 18hr flight, holding all luggage, cranky family sitting in the car rental and hard to understand and hear the operator.
The sim worked ok. Could make calls, use data and was even able to tether. Data/ GPS connection lagged big time when driving around which was the biggest problem.
Still good value for money though even not on 4g but wish the data got connected too as soon as a landed.

      • That's a good point - i'd forgotten about the APN problem. I eventually guessed at something like apn.t-mobile.net or so and it worked until I could find the better apn online.

    • Agree with you there Boomer

The majority of mobiles in Australia will not get 4G or 3G (since T-Mobile use different bands that o other carriers over there and here) so I think having the 4G data in the title is a little deceiving. In the LA, OC area I only get EDGE and that is frustratingly slow. When I go to America I paid a little strea and got the AT&T sim instead.

  • Do you have any cheaper plan? I only need 1G data.

    • +2

Hey mate, not at the moment for T-Mobile. PM and might be able to do a deal for our Simple Mobile 2GB card for very cheap if you're interested.

      • Very interested. My holiday starts on October. I have plenty of time to wait.

      • Hi rep, sent you a pm

  • I leave for the US on September 13, departing October 1

Anyway we can make this deal work for me? Looks like I'll have to go the last 2 days of my trip without if I choose this sim?

    • +1

Hey mate, I am sure if you put an activation date of September 3rd we could live with that and make it work ;)

      • Thanks guys. All ordered!

  • Ordered one! going to the us in 2 weeks! thanks

  • Can vouch for these guys and the T Mobile SIM in the US.

Rep do you have any similar SIM's for Europe (I'm travelling Sept)?

    • Unfortunately not at the moment but we think we are extremely close to a good Europe sim. Stay posted because we are very hopeful! :)

  • Ordered for travel in November. Cheers

    • Umm didnt the rep say it needs to be activated before Sept?

      • Ha… didn't read the fine print

Thought in the description it stated…

This means your card is preactivated for any date before January 1st 2016

        • **THIS CARD IS FOR ACTIVATIONS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1st
so you need to be in the US before this date otherwise it may not work. You may want to check directly with the rep and good luck.

        • @lancedefrance: hi Rep, will this sim be suitable for my trip in November?

  • +1

Another positive experience here - the Store Rep was very responsive in working out a group deal for my upcoming extended family trip. It's great to be heading away with the knowledge that your phones will be ready to go within minutes of landing.

  • Thanks Rep very timely :)

  • i am leaving for the us on Saturday will I get it in time if not what will happen

    • +1

      Pony up for express post.

  • also where do you find the list of international mobile calling countries

    • He mate, if you express order today or tomorrow you will definitely get it before Saturday. In regard to the list it is in the description of the product in this post :)

  • Going to Europe, T-Mobile exists in the netherlands will this work there? My T-Mobile sim when I was in the states worked internationally…
Also does it have an expiry?

    • Hey mate the credit on this card is specifically for the USA. T-Mobile Netherlands and their plans is another product in this particular case!

  • Hi Rep, Do I have to specify my exact arrival date now? I will be arriving in the states at sometime in August but the date is not yet confirmed.

    • Hi Magnate, yes thats fine. You can purchase now and email us your arrival date once your flights are confirmed. Thanks

  • +1

I bought one of these last year,
cannot fault the seller but T-Mobile is TERRIBLE.
like they wish they were only as bad as Vodafone 3 years ago.

Coverage on a Samsung Galaxy S5 (which has the right bands for USA) was average at best.
data was terribly slow in Los Angeles CA, Orange County CA, Orlando FL, Miami FL, Washington DC, Arlington VA, Manhattan NY, Queens NY, Brooklyn NY, Las Vegas NV and Victorville CA.

    data was UNUSABLE in Manhattan.

This time I will be using AT&T and I would encourage travelsimsdirect to sell AT&T Sims as well.

    • The T-mobile coverage maplooks good. Were you the only person who experienced poor network performance?

      • +1

I think we all know from the Voda and Optus experience in Australia that coverage maps are often of limited meaning. I found I had constant access to rather slow 3G data in Manhattan.

      • Most people I know avoid T-mobile when in the US due to poor experiences in the past.

    • Hi there ma77, thank you for your in depth response. We do stock SIMs by H2O which uses the AT&T network. We suggest this alternative for your next adventure there, it may be more suitable for your needs.

      • So it's not going to provide 4G in South West USA?

        • +1

Hi tommyc, as long as you're in the 4G coverage zones, you can expect 4G data speeds. The coverage map which you linked is an excellent indicator of what data speeds you should be getting.

    • OTOH we had five (simcorner) t-mobile sims with unlimited H+ data and 5GB tethering in the US in January this year: excellent coverage and data speeds in SFO and on the freeways in Northern California. In Orlando, great speeds everywhere except in the theme parks, but often the Disney and Universal wifi was patchy at the same time.

  • Would this SIM work ok for an old Samsung Galaxy S3 Device (as in still work on 3G speeds instead of 4G)?

    • Hi DBAHO, It definitely will work. Should be able to get 3G coverage. 2G at worst, which is still fast enough for google maps, emails and facebook etc.

  • Hi guys, could this be used continuously for a 5-6 month stay (i.e. keeping the same number and topping up month to month)? Thinking of going with the h2o option.

    Cheers

    • +1

Hey mate, it absolutely can! So we would load you up with your first month and then you could keep topping up each month online or in store while in the states!

  • Awesome deal - for anyone wondering this price is pretty amazing for 4G speeds. Comparable providers would be gosmart mobile but that is only 3g and it is $40USD per month.

  • Wal-Mart does this for $30USD I believe?

  • Hi Rep,
I ordered a SIM today via express post and I'm in the Perth CBD (6005). Do you know if it would it arrive by Thursday?

    • Hey mate, it will be dispatched tomorrow morning. Usually it is overnight so likely Thursday. If Aus. Post is experiencing delays slight chance of Friday, but unlikely!

      • Awesome thanks for the reply. Do you provide the tracking number when shipped?

        • Can do if you need it. PM me your transaction details and I will send to you :)

  • Damn i just saw this deal I'm heading over end of july/august do you have any deals coming up? I was actually in Hawaii in May and bought one of your sims and it worked perfectly!

  • Did a 'reasonable' amount of research and decided to go with these guys for the H2O wireless card. For an iPhone, the price for the nano SIM along with a $40 recharge works out to be about the same (with this discount applied). Also some peace of mind knowing we have our SIM cards in hand, ready for us to start using once we land.

Chose H20 as have read decent reviews & using the AT&T network - now hope it comes in time for our trip in two weeks!

    • +1

I agree with you. Australian phones generally marry better with AT&T tower frequencies. And note that the American designation of 4g is sometimes only 3g.

As a backup, if your card does not arrive in time, you can purchase Redpocket sims for 1 cent each on amazon delivered to your hotel. Call ahead to the hotel so they are aware that you expect a letter. Delivery is about 7-10 working days so you will need to order them now. Check out Redpocket site for calling rates/data.

      • Great tip, cheers for that bigticket.

  • wow I think I got scammed.
I bought one on Monday with express shipping and I live in Sydney but it still hasn't come yet.
What should I do because I leave on Saturday?

    • We most certainly can confirmed you were not scammed! Have you contacted us? We can provide tracking numbers. If it was a case of lost mail and it didn't get to you overnight or Wednesday we would have express posted a replacement today to reach you tomorrow. Please PM us and we will either do any measure to get you your product or provide a full refund for lost mail.

    • +3

Hunted down your transaction and have your tracking number which shows delivered on Wednesday 24th @ 11:46am

  • Will you get this deal back on again soon?

    • Hey kimmyyeah,
We very much hope so! When are you scheduled to leave for the states?

  • hi rep, missed out on the tmobile deal, am flying on the 25th July, any chance of a deal in time for my flight?

    • Hey zerio, probably not for the exact same card (as we are still completely sold out) but may have something else at a grest price atm. PM or email us :)

  • Just a heads up to anyone else looking to use these,

I arrived on the 24th with my sim ready to go and it wasn't activating.

Few emails back and forth and they are still saying that their T-mobile activation is down.

You can't do much at the T-Mobile store either because they will activate and ask you to pay for the service starting at USD$60.

It's now been a few days and still no sign of activation..

Good thing they offer a refund guarantee but still still quite disappointing to have it not work

    • +1

      Hi impose,
Sorry again. Unfortunately a very small % of these cards have been affected by a defect by T-Mobile. We are offering full refunds + another special complimentary offer now. Will inbox you now with more details on the offer. Unfortunately we can't make up for what has happened now, but we are hell bent on making it up to anyone affected in the long term!

      • I'm due to activate mine next week. Any way of knowing if it will be effected beforehand?. I really won't be happy having to deal with that after a 13hr flight.

        • Of course! You should be fine mate but can you please email us with your details and we will go into greater details for you? :)

      • Thanks for your reply and refund.

Just unfortunate that we weren't able to use it for this trip and we don't usually go overseas.
Everyone also knows how hard it is to split/meet up without mobile communications.

  • I just came back after using my T mobile Sim in the US for a month. The experience was great, very good overall service and it worked in most places I visited.

Here is the issue though, now that I am back here my iphone seems to be locked to the T mobile netwrok. I cant connect to any australian carrier which means my phone is practically useless.

I am going to contact T Mobile to see what I need to do. I tried resetting the phone and restoring from backup but that didnt work.

Rep, if you have any advice please share it here as I assume others will be in a similar situation when they come back.

    • Hi lancedefrance,
Honesty that is the very first time I have heard of anything like that! Have never had that issues and we have sold a lot of these in the last few months. It does defy common logic of how SIMS work on unlocked phones.
I will get our tech guy to look into to greater, he is best suited for this sort of thing but I hope and suspect this is one of those IT things that the answer is under our nose and is an easy fix.
      Will be in touch.

      • Thanks so much for the quick response, I know it doesnt make sense. I even took my phone to the telstra shop yesterday but they couldnt fix it. did 2 back up and restore also changed the sim with another telstra sim but nothing works.

If I use my T mobile sim on this iphone it works however I tried 2 different telstra sims and nothing is working. The same telstra sims work in another iphone.

I tried to get in touch with T Mobile over web chat but didnt have my pin with me (didnt know there is one) but I assume it is printed on the sim which I dont have on me right now.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

        Cheers

        • Might be a dumb question but have you tried another Australian carrier sim like Optus? Just to see what happens and eliminate the possibility of it being a settings issue in regard to compatibility with Telstra.
Did you play around with any settings on the phone while over there?

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:

          Hi Rep

Thanks for the follow up, no I havent tried another sim from another carrier I tried 2 telstra sims that I had and both didnt work. However I had slightly different issues where on the first sim it would say sim not found, while on the second sim it would say no service.

I tried a 3rd sim (telstra) and it worked so I asked telstra for another sim which they activated and it is now working so it was a sim issue after all.

No I didnt touch any settings or anything and really odd that 2 sims didnt work so it might actually be something wrong with the device itself not reading sims correctly but anyway it is working now after installing a new sim.

Thanks for the follow up and for the great deal.

        • @lancedefrance: Phew! What a relief, glad it all worked out for you :) Absolute pleasure mate.
