  Very close to school holidays so check it out now.

  Emirates are a good choice as they send a lot of air craft there for servicing rather than doing it in Australia.

    That's not true at all. No Emirates aircraft (only A380s) undergo maintenance at Auckland. They are only on the ground for a few hours before turning around for their flights back home.

  LAN is the cheapest at $397 return but the return is at a fairly unsociable 6:20am.

  If you don't want to get up that early AirNZ is $405 with some better departure times.

      You've probably already looked but obviously Jetstar is the cheapest but it's difficult to know whether there will be a special before then but often they are just mid week or very few Friday fares available.

      Some options:

      $364 on LAN with checked luggage on a dreamliner but early return departure. You can book through gotogate without a fee if you have a Mastercard, also if you go via momondo you'll get a better price than directly on their site.

      The cheapest option would be to get Jetstar to price beat Air New Zealand's special so $207-$20.7=$186.30 and book the return through expedia for either $142 on the above LAN flight with luggage or slightly later with Jetstar at 7:35 for $146 without luggage. You won't need to pay any card fees on those so would be around $328.
