TPG - Speed Shaping after Exceeding Monthly Internet Quota

Hi,

I am currently on $49 per month ADSL2+ and home phone bundle with TPG and as part of my bundle I receive 100GB per month that consists of 50GB Peak and 50GB off-peak limits.

I have never exceeded my data allowance but this month, for the first time I have exceeded it half way through but noticed that my speed hasn't changed from normal limits. I get about 12-13Mbps and it is still same as I checked right now.

Has someone had similar experience with TPG? What is the reason? Are they quite strict in imposing the shaping and monthly quota limit or not?

Edit: I have exceeded the limit couple of weeks ago, but only my Peak limit, haven't used any of off-peak limit at all.

    Used to take a while to kick in as usage meter had some lag.

    Perhaps there's some lag?

    I'm with them on $59/month ADSL2+ and home phone bundle as well - but totally unlimited internet (no peak / off-peak etc). No more worrying about data limits. :)

    But if it's not an issue for you, and if they don't seem to have noticed you've exceeded your limits, then… that sounds good to me!

    I'm on the $49 off-net plan, use up by 10G peak limit in about a day and have incredibly slow internet for the rest of the month :(

    I was with TPG for a year on the same plan as you and we would always go over the on peak allowance by at least 20gb… never really noticed a change in speed at all though!
