Drinking and Driving…
What a great marketing coup !!!!
goget is a total rip off
$81 per day inc. 150km free per day - Go Get
$42.50 per day Toyota Yaris inc Unlimited Free Kilometers Included - Hertz
However, you need to take in consideration that GoGet includes fuel and insurance.
Hertz has insurance included too (over25) and 150KM in a Yaris will cost you $15 (if that) in fuel.
+1 for research!
What's the Hertz definition of a full day? Do you need to return the car during opening hours?
@krunchy:
generally 24 hour period.
pick up 9am, can return 9am the next day to keep the day rate
GoGet includes fuel and insurance.
what's the excess for insurance ?
probably double any "actual" car hire company…
It's $1500, however reduced to $300 if you pay an additional $1.5 per hour
go get is meant for the times when you need to hire a car for only a few hours. they dont tout themselves as a longer term rental place
they tout themselves as a get rich quick scheme for the owners.
That's right brentman1 , it's meant for short trips and for people who don't need a car every day.
If a car is parked near your house you just walk up to it, drive to do whatever needs doing and park it where it was. Pay for the hours you used. If that works for you then this is a great concept. It's not cheap but neither is owning a car you rarely use.
Most people use these cars for a couple of hours, not a day.
Different use case.
$49 Membership —-is charged every year…dont forget to cancel it within 12 months if u dont use it…
Also worth mentioning they hold $500 on your credit card for 2 full weeks after your booking.
Plus you have to book in half hour increments which means standing around at the car waiting for time to tick over. Because there are a bunch of extra charges for taking a booking early or late.
Point being, it's supposed to be convenient - but it's really not.
It's supposed to be cheap, but it's really not. (i hired a van for a couple hours, 30ish kms- ended up costing the same as a full day hire from budget etc).
good to know, thanks for the heads up
I noticed a few of these GoGet cars parked around my suburb. Recently in one location there is a rectangular spot marked out in white paint with the words car share. There is no street signs indicating who can legally park there. I often see normal cars parked in that spot. It's just a normal street not a carpark. How is the council allowed to sell out to a business like this?
i wonder what the fine would be if a "commoner" parked there
xc: Yeah that's the point that car rental companies have been arguing (defending their business). The other side of the argument is that it benefits locals who don't want to own a car but still have access to one. If everyone bought a car and parked it on the street the council would have other problems to deal with. So I see it as a balance.
And yeah, you can get fined for parking a private car in a car share spot. That's the rules.
They should join forces with fcuk.
Has anyone seen any mention of the $25 credit after signing up? I can't find anything about it on the email or welcome pack, nor anywhere in my account.
I was told that this will be added in the backend, and will appear on your invoice which is generated at the end of every month.
Thanks.
Website really slow.. getting OzBargained.. Lol.
