        • nice, counting from 1 and now it's 7, keep watching and counting ^_^ - just found out spending time counting Neg Vote for Dick deal is better off then spending money and get fund held for nothing but frustration

          @webtherapist:

Perfect example of dick: acme laptop sleeve 13" was on clearance for $4.41. Bought it using c&c. Week later, nothing. Contact them, oh, we're out of stock, we only have 15". No one has 13", incl our warehouse. Order cancelled.
24 hrs later, item is on sale for $3.50, online only with $7.95 postage. No c&c.

Feeling rooted by dick. Didn't enjoy it.

    Bait and Switch

    • -5

Don't you have to explain what the bait & switch was in order to neg?
I would like to know anyway.

      • +3

        Read comments above

  • Looks like the MacBooks are the models from earlier this year, rather than the mid 2015 models.

    • If you mean the Mackbook Pro 13" Retina. There is no middle 2015. Early (March) 2015 was the last iteration.

      • Yeah Retina, thanks for the clarification.

  • -1

Looks like DSE now knows the power of Ozbargain. Even their coupons says so

  • Hi rep, any chance of adding the Macbook Pro 13" (MF841X/A) fully spec'd out with the optional 3.1Ghz CPU, 1TB SSD and 16GB memory to the catalogue?

  • +3

Increase the price by 11% & give 10% back to customers. Perfect strategy by Dick but only problem is that everyone know about it DICK smith

    • +3

I don't think the price has increased. Check the prices of the macs at the Apple store. These are genuinely 10% off the RRP already.

      • +2

I'd almost ask for one of those "everything is on sale" spam posts… But then, common sense kicks in and you realise it's DIck.

  • +1

Hey everyone. Just to clarify; stores have plenty of 11 & 13" MacBook Airs, smaller stock availability of the 13" MacBook Pro, and for iPads, 15" MacBook Pro's and iMacs, store stock levels across the business are minimal, so there is likely a supply or transit issue that is responsible for this.

My store is backordered for most units for weeks, and no info is available as to when our next shipment will be.

Just trying to help out :)

    • +3

so there is likely a supply or transit issue

As in, don't supply stores with any stock during a sale, followed by a magical solution to stock problems when the sale ends?

      • -2

Catalogues and sales are planned weeks in advance and stock doesn't always reach stores in time for sales. Understand that this may be outside our control as a company. No need for accusations mate.

        • +2

I am not accusing you, from what I gather, you work in/manage a store.
I am saying that DSE has terrible reputation when it comes to click and bait. That's not the fault of the individual stores, it's a problem that lies within the head office area, buddy.

    • No stock whole of Queensland for the 13inch macboook pro 512. Shame, i was finally going to pull the trigger. Can you extend the offer till stock availability OP?

      • You'll find that the 10% off Apple offer has been extended until June 30 as a result of our lack of stock for various models.

        • +3

          No Further 7.5% for Ozbargainers?

        • What about 7.5%?

  • Is the new Macbook with USB C available? If it is not listed, does that mean there is no stock?

    • +1

No stores in our company have this model in stock, and unfortunately, most Apple stores don't have it either. Best to jump on Apples website to secure stock of the 12" MacBook

  • +4

Bahahaha… 64GB Wifi iPad2 is now $701.10 with code. Only a little it more than OW at $619. Don't be a dick and come up with some ACTUAL bargains.

    • the funny thing is 619 is the new daily price at OW, Dickie Dick calls 700 is a BARGAIN LOL

  • I work for Woolworths and we get 5% off Dick Smiths. If i were to purchase Macbook pro Retina Display 13inch 256GB which goes down from $1889.10 to $1747.62 (after 7.5% discount using coupon), would I be able to scan my Woolworths discount card at the checkout counter at a Dick Smith store to get further 5% of making it (10% + 7.5% + 5% making it 22.5% off for me)?

    • +2

Dick Smith is not a part of woolworths anymore. There was a period when the discount card still worked after they sold it. But now it doesn't work anymore.

  • Poor form Dick, no stock anywhere of anything

  • +3

    This is a bullshit sale.

I was looking at the prices online last night. It was listed as $1664 last night for the 21.5" 2.9Gh iMac - today it "has 10% off!" and is $1664.10. Similar story for the 27" iMac and Mac Mini's. Didn't look at the laptops as not interested in one, but pretty sure they weren't at their RRP last night.

Thought the extra 7.5% was good deal so went to buy one. No stock. Tried a different model. No stock.

I thought there was stock last night - although can't be 100% sure, they label everything so similarly it's confusing - seems to have magically disappeared today unless you want the crappy desktop model.

    • -1

That was 10% off price that you've seen last night. Go and check Apple store for RRP.

      • I'm well aware that the 10% 'discount' was off the RRP and built into the listed price.

You are missing my point. Their 'sale' falls under the ACCC's definition of misleading pricing.

DS was not advertising 10% off on Thursday night when I visited their website, they simply had these products listed for the prices I mentioned above.

On Friday the prices are the same (well, technically - you know, for those who need spoon fed these kinds of things - they went up by 10c) when they are supposedly having this big '10% off sale' on 'all' their Macs. Hardly a sale when your prices are higher than the day before when you weren't advertising this 'discount'.

The huge advert on their website makes no mention of RRP. They were not sold at their RRP before the 'sale'. So to label these items (and not doubt plenty of others) as 'on sale' at a 'discount' of 10% is misleading and complete bullshit.

Hence my conclusion and opening statement.

    • -1

The listed price on des already includes the 10% off. Some ppl just have no clue and wants to be spoon fed

      • -3

I agree with you, all the neg comments here has nothing to do with Macbook sale, the price has included 10% off. You guys call yourself ozbargainer but can't even tell what is a bargain deal. The sale is always on RRP price, check the price from Apple store and work out 10% that price.

@Frozensage: maybe it is a good thing, ppl can't tell a real bargain so that we can still buy :)

@Storerep: Dicksmith should have display the RRP price then the discounted price for those who has no clue and need to be spoon fed :)

  • +1

    OZMAC7 is invalid now
    this post can be closed

  • Why all the hate? Is it cause an apple deal? #statingtheobvious

    • +5

It is because Tricky Dicky is trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes by saying "bargain" yet they increased prices!

The only good prices are for items they have no stock of! Yet we all know they will have stock the second the sale expires. The timing of their delivery courier is always truly remarkable.

      • +1

It is a bargain. Maybe some are out of stock or not in your area, doesn't warrant all the negs. You can get the 13inch retina 17.5% cheaper than rrp. Has never happened before EVER. Safeway catalogue specials every week, doesn't mean when you go to your local woolies it will have in stock. I don't see all the negs when you cant get half price spams cause they have "sold out"

        • +3

10% discount with an additional 7.5% discount is NOT a 17.5% discount.

Basic math; I'm sure you don't need it spoon fed and will work it out eventually.

Woolies doesn't go hiding the SPAM tins out the back and makes sure that they have reasonable levels of stock available when they advertise a sale. That's why they don't get negged. If they did a catalogue promotion where they were selling $200 iTunes cards for $50 and then made sure that only a single store in some obscure suburb had a couple of cards available, then yeah - people would be pissed off. DS could have easily just put the few models they were looking to clear out on special and advertised them specifically.

  • does DSE sell AppleCare?

    • They do, in store at least.

      • yeah was wondering if it was online and discounted though

  • +2

Code is now saying not valid

    • -2

Same, plus you are never really sure anymore that you are getting a bargain when it's Dick Smith

      • You would know if you did your research.

  • yeah would have bought a macbook retina from them but surprise surprise code not working (it was when I added on phone but since logging in to my pc to do the order it's now 'not valid'). funny that!

One day, dick smith will stop being dick, and start working, just not today!

  • I think rep needs to remove some neg vote, many neg votes here are not really a valid negs.

    • Yeah care to explain?

    • How so? From personal experience, this is a dodgy e-tailer. Their shops are okay (if you don't mind paying too much) but their online system is an absolute joke. Stick levels, c&c are all BS and for most sales, the exclusion list is longer than the sale items. Not to mention that their "discounted price" is hardly ever a bargain.

  • +3

Got DICKED on the last order. Took 7 weeks to get a refund for an item that wasn't in stock. I neg this on the basis that there is high risk the advertised product won't be in stock even if the website says it is. Source: personal experience from previous order.

  • +2

So many neg here just because it's a DSE post. Why not just automatically give all future dse posts a -20 to start off with. Unbelievable.

    • +3

Then they'll end up with -40.
