Phillips Perfect Care Silence Steam Iron GC9550 for $163.95. RRP $529.95 @ Target

40
TAXTIME50TAXTIME100

I was in the market for a new iron and wanted a fairly high end one.

Choice suggested the GC9550 from Phillips.

Currently also discounted at Myer & DJ, but was advertised target online for $313.65 last night, seems to be $369 today.

Applied a voucher I picked up in store TAXTIME50 to take $50 off for a $250 spend on homewares, stationery, office and womens and mens business and trade wear. Final price is $263.65

Phillips is currently offering a $100 cashback for garment care products.

So the final price should be $163.65 after multiple steps.

  • The $100 cashback paperwork from Philips has lapsed. It has to be received by them by 15th June 2015 5pm, but they contradict themselves by saying any applicable models bought between 1st April to 30th June 2015… Go figure.

    • Maybe they have changed it without updating some of the dates. Even the full terms and conditions document is not consistent.

Conditions 1 : "The offer commences on 01.04.2015 and ends for purchases at 11:59pm AEST on 30.06.2015 (’Promotional Period’). Final claims close last mail received on 14.07.2015.

then later on in the document….

Condition 5: so that it is received within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date the Qualifying Purchase was made (as specified on the purchase receipt) and no later than last mail received on 14.06.2015.

    • "The offer commences on 01.04.2015 and ends for purchases at 11:59pm AEST on 30.06.2015 (’Promotional
Period’). Final claims close last mail received on 14.07.2015"

Looks like a good deal, but somehow the reviews are not great… http://www.productreview.com.au/p/philips-perfectcare-silenc…

but was advertised target online for $313.65 last night, seems to be $369 today.

So why even bother posting it with that price if it is no longer valid?

    • Because the voucher still applies, and the cashback still applies, and it's still cheaper then the alternative suppliers.

And similar arrangements apply for other Phillips irons if you want one of those instead.

Seemed like a good deal but now it's $213 (not $163.65 due to the price going up to $369).
Also the reviews here don't seem too positive: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/philips-perfectcare-silenc…

    • So why the neg vote? Did you find a cheaper price for this product?

      • Price in title is no longer valid and the Philips website states "All claims must be received no later than by last mail 5.00pm AEST on 15/06/2015." That could be an error though..

        • You should report an improper title, not neg it. Regardless if the cashback is valid or not (most likely still valid), it is still the cheapest available unless you have seen cheaper?

        • @Coley: I admit it was probably a bit rash for the neg, but I don't know how to change it. I'm honestly considering getting it for $213 though.

        • @daffo: Neg vote has been removed for you.

  • I've got one and best iron ever

    Geez, your a picky lot.

On the cash back from Phillips, The official terms & conditions talks about 30/6 and 14/7 as close dates. It looks to me like the offer has been extended and the paperwork is just a bit inconsistent in places.

The taxtime50 code is still valid.

Target bog standard price is still cheaper then the sale price at myer, DJ & appliances online (Phillips official listed suppliers) even if it has gone up overnight.

And in terms of the quality question marks, I read those posts as well. It seemed to me that the views were extremely polarised between "it's the best thing ever" and "something went wrong with mine and therefore I hate it, and by extension, everything related to Phillips". I did see some posts where Phillips had reached out to the customer to get the thing fixed up so decent support is being provided, and it's still the case that Choice ranked this thing very highly.

The main reason I posted the bargain was to point out that it was currently possible to stack multiple offers for a range of Philips irons.

  • I still use my $3 target iron and its great. Wish I'd bought 2 or 3 of them now.
