Bought laptop, realised specs are not as advertised.

I just took my sister to buy a laptop from Harvey Norman and decided on (what seemed to be) this marked at $746 ( 8gb ram, 1tb, dedicated graphics, etc on the sheet stuck on the display model), then we get home and realise it is this model. Before we head back there after dinner, what should we expect? Just a refund? Discount on a slightly better spec'd laptop?

dont support harvey. wasnt harvey the one trying to push tax on internet items?

  • The first I'd do (if you haven't already is take a screensht :p). I doubt you'll get anything other than a refund but you can always try.

  • You could go back tomorrow morning and express your disappointment to the manager and see if he/she offers you any compensation…

  • In HN it always pays to double check the item behind the price / specs display card. Quite often they are moved by customers or placed incorrectly by staff, especially on the laptops display. It is a busy area and they do get shuffled around a bit.
Best to check the physical item specs rather than any unfixed display notice otherwise you could be disappointed like the op is here.
Cant see him getting anything more than a refund.

    • The actual laptop on display was the higher up model, with the incorrect sale price tag stuck on it (I can't remember exactly what the tag read, but it probably said Acer V3-572somethingsomething, so in the heat of the moment I had no reason not to believe that was what we were getting, I didn't know there multiple models). The manager ended up chucking in 8gb of ram

When you go back, you should throw in several "inter alia's" and demand $300 to cover travel costs.

    Hahaha

  • Take it back and ask for it to be exchanged for the original model.

    If not - refund.
