So recently I have had to take $2000 home.
The first thing I was asked by my mrs was why u carrying so much cash?
Is it legal?
What will the cops say if they catch you?
How much cash do you keep at home?

I keep a container of mixed coins by the door. My thinking is that if somebody broke in (and triggered the alarm), my offering is there for their quick & easy taking - in lieu of ransacking through my house. So far; no break-ins, so it's clearly working!
That, and I've always paid thousands in cash for big items such as travel agents and used cars, to save any credit card fees they were otherwise imposing. The walk between the bank and the store? Like a boss.
My mother in law often carries 10k with her just in her bag wherever she goes. Pretty sure half of her friends does the same in their LV gucci purse. But then again we are asians, that's just how we roll…
You mean 10k vietnam dong?
To and from The Star / Crown? (whichever state your in)
Just remembered NL Texas Hold'em I used to play had a 500 - 1000 or 1000 - 3000 minimum buy in
Asians and their gambling lol
I heard in China if you withdraw more than 200K Yuan (approx. AU$40K) in cash from the bank you can call the police and they will escort you to your destination for free.
What if they escort you to a dead end alley and then evenly escort your money into their pockets?
Lol, and 10% or more of that 200K Yuan probably ends up in the cop's pocket by the time you reach your destination!
Sounds like a good idea to me
Wouldn't ever happen here. Too busy getting their coffee at Maccas.
32 tigers from casino
Dumb topic, who can stop you from having your own cash in your own house. I have $2-5k in my office draw quite often. When i go OS i take $4 or 5k cash.
I have few million Dong floating around the house !! I once had someone at my house asking for donation for community thing and did not have 1 AUD with me at that moment, so offered her 100K Dong ( I am sure she dint know it was only worth few $$) She checked with me 10 times before accepting the cash and so over the moon securing that donation. Not sure what was her thoughts after she knew the value !!
2 K is hardly anything but to be honest in most cases you don't need 2K for emergency unless you live in the bush. What sort of emergency do you need 2K for in the bush? A 65" plasma transfusion?
If the ATM is > 50K drive, you have to operate your expense with cash. Once went on a holiday to Nadgee,NSW during school holiday and the nearest ATM was 30 mins drive. The town did have an ATM but ran out of cash because of the rush. I don't recollect the milk bar which doubles as fuel station accepted cards but again this was few years ago.
Read online some business owners can have thousands as they can't be stuffed taking it to the bank the same day.
lol $2000 is nothing to have with you…..
Ah yer when you have a business that deals with mostly cash it almost seems the norm to have a lot of cash with you, But I know its different if you just work for someone and your pay just goes straight into the bank, you never really see the Cash.why u carrying so much cash?
So what was the answer?!
I generally keep $800k to a million in cash around the house.
My address is…
I have 1.5 million at home, My address is 123 fake street
And your name is Guy Incognito?
Is your name Bart Simpson?
Homer Simpson? Wouldn't be Marge, she'd have spent it by now. Smart woman. Lol
sold my car, buyer paid in cash, so i had $17K sitting in a bag. got a bit paranoid they might send someone to "retrieve" it later, so i left it at my parents house until the bank re-opened on monday :D
feel free to post your address up too
Change your username…and you will no problem asking this question:)
Catch you doing what? Are you like cradling the cash in your arms?
$2000 is 20x $100 bills, easily fits in your pocket.
If you want security from government currency devaluation and rampant inflation, nothing beats keeping bricks of silver at home. Forget bank notes that can be made invalid at any moment.
Excellent protection from vampires too, I might add.
I think usually if you're buying big ticket items you can get a good deal if you're paying with cash.
When I bought my race bike at the LBS, I haggled for a number of times before committing to buying the bike. Then in the end I asked if they can throw in some free stuff if I paid by cash. The sales rep went to speak to his manager and came back ten minutes later agreeing. I ended up withdrawing A LOT of money from the ATM. I have not handed over so much cash to anyone before :O
Since then I've gotten another bike and wheelsets off gumtree and all paid in cash. I guess if you're paying by cash, it also gives you a perspective on how much you're really spending.
A fair chunk of the cash I keep at home is foreign currency that I have left over from international trips, and my coin/note collection… in terms of usable Australian dollars, it's rare for me to have more than $50-100, which will most likely be in my wallet, not at home.
I use to keep 6 figures at home. Then a friend suggested to put it in the casino. So I have it hold and secure at crown. That way I don't have to worry about sleeping at night or when I am away. Plus crown thinks I'm a gambling addict so you get privileges
There seems to be a trend towards 'criminalising cash' (certainly in the US), however it is definitely NOT illegal.
Just like anyone who uses a VPN is into child p**n.
If you been to StarCIty (or any Casino really) 2G is just 2 chips for some people.
When they cash in/out I am sure they have far more cash than that.Carrying a lot of cash is just dangerous, maybe stupid, but far from illegal.
