        oops soz

  • Could this be the cheapest 970 deal yet?

    • I did look and couldn't find one cheaper anywhere. There is other cards that can be had cheaper on eBay right now but they don't have enough qty to post as a bargain.

    • Kogan has an EVGA one that's slightly cheaper

      Edit: They also have:
      4690K = 257
      Xeon 1231 (similar to a 4790) = 280?
      4790K = 360

      • Yeah but they say it only has a 12 month warranty, I assume it's a Kogan warranty too.. This seemed the better deal after looking through the offerings.

    Thanks Mod for adding all the relevant info!

  • Argh, I want to pull the rigger on this. But won't the prices of these drop even more when the new AMD300 card comes out as well as the new 980ti?

    • Nvidia did say no price drop on 970 now that the 980ti is out.

      Doubt the price drop would be 20% anyway!

    PCCG are one of the best out there IMHO (been a customer of theirs for years, including some pain-free RMA & Credit experiences)

    I was eyeing the GTX 970 until I read about the 3.5 + 0.5GB VRAM issue. In short the 3.5GB is fast but it switches down to slower performance in the final 0.5GB. That's not so bad but apparently many games hover around the 3.6GB mark and switch back and forth over this line, killing FPS each time.

    Note: I'm no gamer at all, was looking at this for future NVIDIA SHIELD PC STREAM experience, I'm now thinking GTX 960 is better if you can afford to lose some grunt.

    • I have the Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition of the card and play GTAV, BF4 and various other games at high-very high settings and have never noticed the FPS dropping. I'm not saying your use wont have the issue but i'm not sure if people should give it up because of this 'issue'.

      Also, you can just run games at lower settings if you have problems instead of going for a lower card which cannot run at higher settings.

      • Not a gamer as I said, only basing my info on extensive online research. Amazon for example have been honoring literally 1000's of RMA's for the GTX 970's. Nvidia are currently facing a class-action lawsuit over the GTX 970. But this is all theory I don't have the hands on experience, which as shubby0901 suggests isn't a major problem.

        Incidentally, GTAV was one of the games I was planning to play so your feedback is promising.

        Just trying to provide some information before people rush into the purchase.

        Seems null and void now anyway, deal over.

      • What resolution do you play at?

        Also, you can just run games at lower settings if you have problems instead of going for a lower card which cannot run at higher settings.

        Kinda makes buying a high-end graphics card a waste.

        • I run it at 1080p. I've turned the settings down so that it runs smoother and I get around 100fps, but with high reflections and AA, I get around 60fps.

          Also I dont know what the 960 is like, but I would think you can get better quality on slightly lower settings on the 970 than what you can get on max settings on the 960.

    Using the CTWENTY coupon would mean that we would no longer be eligible for the $50 voucher

    "Not to be used In Conjunction with any other Voucher/Code" as outlined in the terms and conditions for that $50 eBay voucher offer. Or am I wrong? :/

    • To me the wording suggests that the $50 voucher can't be used at the same time as another offer. As long as the item is still over $200 after using the CTWENTY code, you should still receive the voucher. :)

    I just bought the MSI card. Thanks OP for the post. Btw doesn't the code redemption for the game end tonight? Will i be able to redeem the key after i receive the card since i purchased it before the promotion ended?

      My bad :P the offer ends July 15th not June lol

  • Or you could of waited till tomorrow when they announce the new line of AMD cards then nVidia cards prices will go down and we all benefit…

    Looking for a GTX 980 but PCG ebay prices are jacked by up to $50. Sure we have the $50 voucher and 20% but it still blows.

  • do you get both the $50 and the 20% off?

  • what's the difference with the Red msi one?

  • Gee that ended quickly. I was out and missed it. Here's hoping for another sale of the 960 or 970, soon!

  • Yeh I missed it too :( hope there will be another one soon
