  • do you want a cordless driver drill or cordless impact driver drill?
Do you have a charger already?
I have contacts with Hitachi resellers who may be able to help you.

  • for the moment just a driver deal but i have a mate who is trying to trace me a twin kit (driver and impact) for $600.can't remember if he said 14.4v or 18v plus 3.0 ah batteries.
i need the whole kit, don't have charger.

  • FYI:
    Hitachi -
    DSL14DSL(HL) 14.4V Driver Drill, 13mm keyless, 2 x 3.0Ah Li-ion batteries - $459
    DS14DVB2 14.4V Driver Drill, 13mm keyless, 2 x 2.0Ah Ni-Cd batteries - $319

But Li-ion (lithium) is the way to go if you ask anyone. And if you want interchangeable batteries, go li-ion.
Since that comes with 2 batteries, you can get a impact driver, or other 14.4v items, without buying more batteries and it comes out much cheaper.

    WH14DSL(H5) 14.4V Impact Driver, 6.35mm hex drive - $249.00 (no batteries)

Add about $150 for the charger. Comes to about $860.

If you go 18V (same items, 2 batt, charger), its about $1k.

  • We use a super expensive hitachi in the mines where i'm working. Considering it hasnt broken down in the 3 months i've been working here, i'd say that brand is pretty good. :)

    • Hitachi is better than almost all brands out there (Makita etc)

  • i am seriously looking at these panasonic.

  • If it's just for casual use, the $49 pack that Big W has at the moment should be good. It's Powermaster brand with 2 batteries and a complement of bits including those screwdriver pieces and those socket-set like bits for hex nuts (I obviously don't know the proper name). I'm seriously thinking about getting it myself. It's on page 7 of their catalogue that starts tomorrow Monday 21st.

    • i need it for work i am an electrician by trade.

      • Well in that case I have heard from an electrician friend that Panasonic is pretty good. He has one with hammer function which he says he never really has any problems with and it's been going strong for more than a year or two. Not really sure where you could get a good deal on them, but I guess these things are tax deductible if you need it for work, or if you're an apprentice you can purchase them under the tool allowance.
