  • nexus 7 2013 supports QI? interdasting…

too bad none of my phones has it

    • Nexus 5 2013 also supports Qi.
I'm using it with my $16 eBay Qi charger.

    • Yes, Nexus 7 2013 does support QI.

  • Lumia 1020 needs a charging case to work with Qi chargers. You'd need to buy that seperately

    • yeah not interested in that… i mean an added extra to make a phone work? nah

      • It's not an extra to make the phone work just an extra if you decided that wireless charging was important to you. No one I can find will replace the micro-usb port on my Samsung Galaxy S3 as they are soldered directly to the motherboard. Purchase a receiver for under $10 dollars and a charging pad for under $10 and you have an inexpensive solution. Others may have good reasons for wanting wireless charging. $20 is a bit excessive. I bought 2 delivered from Aus stock for $16.80.

Mini review: I bought one of these and it works well!

      TL:DR

  • What about Note 4?

    • Will work, just need to add qi back cover to the note.

  • Not sure if this is an updated model, but the kogan one I bought a yr ago which looked similar wasn't great.

Essentially the phone placement has to be fairly precise or it wont charge. This appears to be because the Qi coil inside is too small, or it should have 2 coils (like my panasonic one from japan).

Ended up taking it apart to jerry-rig somewhere in my cars dash, but lost interest after being unable to find a suitable spot.

Been using mine for quite some time with my Nexus 5. Nary a problem, does as described. Love having a charging pad at work, as I've got a great little Nokia Qi charger already at home.

i have one of these, they are identical to the ones on ebay for 1/2 the price.

    • Link please.

I've been searching and never found similar at a reasonable price.

      • Use this search term on ebay "QI Standard Wireless Charger Pad For Nexus4/5 Samsung Note3 S4 S5 S6 Edge White" I bought 2 for less than $17 with free delivery.

        • THAT is NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

I have one of those $8 ones… they are absolute crap.

The Kogan unit is far FAR better than those (and looks different as well.

        • @llama: I can't obviously comment on the quality of the Kogan item however I can comment on the usability of the ones I have purchased. They work fine. Yes they are different. I should have been more explicit that I was addressing the half the price not the identical nature.

        • OK. I bought one of the Kogan chargers because I decided I needed a third to cover more options. I got the Kogan parcel in 3 days from the order and the ebay chargers on the same day(today) supposedly mailed 8 days ago from an Aus seller.
The ebay ones are slightly larger which is just larger than my Samsung Galaxy S4 while the Kogan pad is smaller than the phone. We have 2 S4's in the house with Genuine QI charging case backs on them. They both charged very fast on either pad with no complications. The lights on the ebay charger are bright and easy to see while the Kogan pad is smaller and less bright. They seem to charge at the same rate (anecdotally) with the ebay charger plugged into a Samsung AC charger and the Kogan into a USB port.

          Hope that helps.
          Regards

      • Mine arrived this morning, will test over night. was <$10 delivered from within Aus.
Expect Kogan to d*ck around a few days or weeks before sending from HongKong.

Our Kogan charging pad from previous deal worked really well with a Nexus 7 2013, but the Micro USB socket failed.

Got looser and looser, intermittent charging failures and eventually had to be retired. The repeated use of the plug in the Nexus has now caused that socket in the tablet to become loose as well. So needed the QT charger even more!

I have now modified the Kogan charger to use a standard 3.5mm (large Nokia phone) coaxial plug. We can then use a standard 5V plug pack rather then a USB charger with it. Works well but far too much work to justify doing the work. The plug and socket are just a bit too thick to easily fit, so I had to carve the plastic inside the Enclosure away!

Anyway the charger works good, but the frail MicroUSB connection is a design fault. Not sure why everything is going to Micro USB. ..hopefully that new revision to USB 3.1 will be a more sturdy connector like Apple lighting.

  • Anyone have any feedback on this with a LG G3?

    • Ask me tomorrow (my ebay <$10 arrived today).

i read a review of 5 different cheapies, the outcome was they all did much the same, despite the differing form-factor.

      • I've got an eBay cheapie and the phone keeps beeping at me telling me to reseat it on the charger. Keen to hear your feedback.

        • yeah, was a flop. Does charge, but takes more time to get it in the right spot than plug in a cable.

        • @noone025:
Try a Nokia DT-900, seems to be working for me :D

  • None of the Australian stock LG G2 support QI.

  • Oneplusone?

  • Add Nexus 4 to the compatible list. Qi charging works out of the box.
Works well with the noname cheapo hockey puck Qi charger I got from eBay.
