400 IGA stores to match prices with Coles/Woolworths

Price Match Promise

We’ve reduced prices on 100s of everyday products.
We check the prices on hundreds of everyday products against the major national supermarket chains every week then match them for you. So you’ll never pay more at your local IGA.
It means you’re free to shop independent, without taking a hit in the pocket. Which is great, because there’s a lot to like about independents. They’re usually closer to home. More of the money you can spend with them goes back to the community. And with an independent supermarket, you can actually get to know the people that run it.

  • My local store isn't on there as yet, but at least a number of stores are at least going to 'stand & fight'.

not really "price match" as OzB'ers are used to:

    How does Price Match work?

We choose our range of Price Match products based on the favourite grocery products our shoppers regularly purchase. Price Match is not on every product in-store….
….We check the Coles and Woolworths “everyday shelf price” for each product in the Price Match product range. We exclude Coles and Woolworths products which are on “promotion” or “special” (including weekly or temporary special offers and multi-buys) and excludes prices for products that are damaged or “reduced to clear”.

I like IGA, they seem to carry a few older stock lines that the big two have ditched (and Aldi never had/will ever have) in their rush to sell you what they want you to buy, rather than what you want!

All the more reason to support them now!!!

    Too slow, too late?

  • No IGA near me. When I used to live near one I got into a routine of going to Coles, which if I was still doing I wouldn't start to go to IGA.

  • I shop at IGA anyway. Quite a bit more expensive than coles however when they have a special theres a special. Good to see my store is on the list!

My local IGA closed down a month ago - about a year and a half after Woolies opened opposite the road. A lot of people stock up on the specials/promotions that IGA will not be price matching - I think this is just prolonging a slow painful death for the independents - especially as Aldi expands across the country and Lidl start to come in.

PROGRESSIVE SUPA IGA DIANELLA DIANELLA 6062 WA

Good to see their website is up to date, Coles took over this lease about 6 months ago and the IGA is long gone.

  • Only one IGA in Darwin and it's really expensive. Most products would be 20 - 50% higher price than Coles / Woolworths. It's like going to your local suburb shops. I'm sure there's some items that are the same or cheaper but I didn't notice any. They are opening a new (proper! 300 carparks from what I remember) one nearby and when it's built I'll check it out. For comparison there are 8 Woolworths and 6 Coles. They are building one more of each right now.
