I think CS:GO hasn't updated yet…that or it's Daily Deal price was mistakenly made as its entire Summer Sale price.

    • +2

mistakenly made as its entire Summer Sale price.

Don't hold your breath. The Steam region prices are absolutely pathetic this year. Apparently The Evil Within is $80 while it's $60 on the US store.

      • +1

That hasn't got anything to do with the sale though, just Bethesda applying their regional pricing practices again.

        • +3

I think the most ridiculous regional pricing I've ever seen is LOTR: War in the North. Right now it's 75% off for $18.49 USD, down from $73.99 USD. Or if you're from the US it's 75% off from $19.99 USD to $4.99 USD.. That for a game that was released in Nov 2011 =/

Surely! If they are going to apply regional pricing, they HAVE TO add AUD so we don't get slugged with a poor exchange rate on top. I don't even remember the last time I actually bought from Steam itself because of this crap.

Edit: just noticed it's actually in the post, had a look on Kinguin and it's $5.86 AUD. $4.67 without the insurance.

        • +1

That's a rip-off sale price for that game. I bought LOTR from Nuuvem not too long ago for a few dollars.

    • CSGO has been out for a few years now and it's even been dropped by 75%. A lot of people own the game so I can't imagine it being bought a lot even at 50%. If Steam decides to be continually stubborn and not drop CSGO to at least 75% then I wouldn't buy the game lol. One of my buying rules is for an older game like this one, it has to be at least 75% or no buy.

      • +4

Although a lot of people own the game, it is being purchased a lot when any amount sale is on. The reason is smurfing. Smurfing is when players with higher ranks get a second account to play competitive mode with friends or other lower rank players without risking their own rank. Cause mostly they are losers who can't beat their own rank.

      • Pay $7.5 or miss out. They're selling heaps at $7.5, $3.75 was a once off thing that won't be happening again.

Also, I have 7 copies of CSGO and I'm buying another 3 this sale. I'm sure plenty of other people are doing the same for smurfing or cheating.

        • Happy to miss out, even though many people enjoy this game it's sad to see people paying money just to 'smurf' or cheat.

        • @watty: To Valve's credit, they've recently banned tons of third party cheats out there, cheaters are rarer to find now. And the community sourced Overwatch method of banning cheaters has also been boosted a few days ago.

As for smurfing, they've done a good job on that too, you now have to be level 3 before playing competitive, that means smurfs (like me) have to grind 4-5 hours before playing competitive. I'm only doing it to play with lower ranked friends, it's not fun being matched against 5 people of my rank when my friends are new players.

          TL;DR: It's only $7.5 for a great game, don't be cheap and give it a go :)

        • @raven2000: Ah that's good to hear! Still the cheap nature in me has a strong influence on what I do LOL. I'll see near the end of the summer sale because they usually have encore discounts so I'll take my chances then :P

        • There is always a surge in cheaters when multiplayer games go on sale.

      • I paid $18 USD for the complete Valve pack at the start of the year I guess. CS games, Left 4 Dead seires, Portal, Half Life… Probably have 5 hours of play amongst all of them. If you want the game cheap you should look for a deal on that pack I'd say.

        • That's a pretty good idea actually because I only signed up with Steam close to a year ago. I don't own any of the Left for Dead titles as well so I'll be on the lookout. Ta!

    • It is apparently not going to get a bigger discount due to the issue they have had when it was like $4 or something rather. Apparently websites bought tonnes of keys and duped Valve. Thus i doubt it is going to be cheaper than 7.50. Even if it is, we are talking loose change.

I was so hyped for the summer sale, and honestly I'm kinda let down, all these games are cheaper on g2a

    • +2

Yeah, Steam sales have been pretty mediocre for a few years now.

    • +2

Yeah I never understand all the hype. Unless the prices are way lower in America?

    • Me too, disappointed so far

    • Valkyria Chronicles wasn't a bad price (75% off for the first time), although that will probably become the norm from now on.

  • Chiv is 2.49USD
Edit: yeah whoops - you haven't updated these prices yet!

    • Sorry, not all prices are updated as soon as 3AM ticks over.

  • I just get my brother in the states to gift me the games..too costly in AUD

    • -7

      cool story bro

    • Okay?

  • +1

Strangely my US Steam account also lists Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning™ as Daily Deal and costing $4.39 USD (78% off)

    • To be honest I didn't see that you could expand the flash deals, I've updated the OP. Thank you!

      • Flash Sales are effectively now 'Daily Deals' also in that they last 24 hours except that they add a new set every 12 hours . The 'hidden' ones are the ones released in the previous 12 hours. Of course it's a link to expand so not everyone will see that.

I like this as it means I effectively need to only make ONE scan of the site / 'should I buy these' decision each day (though at the same time each day so as not to miss anything).

For example you will see Trine 3 Early access is now in the bottom section where as it was in the top this morning. BTW the Trine Triple pack @$15 seems like a great deal if you haven't got all three games … nice platformer good to co-op play with friends (or family if your that way inclined)

  • Besiege is great fun, adult lego hilarious engineering fun.

    • Agreed, cannon powered rockets are the best :D

  • That's a ridiculous price for LOTR War in the North.

Create US Steam account using VPN to gift the games to Australian account? Or does it require US Credit Card?

    • I would like to know the best way too. I want to buy Borderlands but it is more than twice the price as the US, for no reason.

    • You can swap your payment method/country if you were to travel but I think they have a good system in place to prevent abuse.

  • I really want Ori and the Blind Forest but it's only 20% off. Do you think it will go lower?

    • Wait until the last day

  • On an aside, anybody else using scripts to get a virtual badge in a pointless clicking game (like me)?
    http://steamcommunity.com/groups/MSG2015/discussions/0/

Couldn't get into room 1 as I slept through the alarm and when I woke up, they were at crazy levels and I couldn't join. Oh well, try again tomorrow.

    Borderlands 2: GOTY
$8.79 in the US (AUD 11.37)
    $17.59 in AUS (AUD 22.75)

You know we're getting ripped off when it's $19 at EB Games!

  • Is that a good price for Watch Dogs? Any advantage paying ~US$16 over Steam rather than paying ~AU$5 on G2Play?
    eg. http://www.g2play.net/category/6966/watch-dogs-deluxe-editio…

    • Well for one there's no proof you're getting a legitimate, authorised key that hasn't been acquired through fraudulent means.
