Need Help Finding a New Monitor

Hey, I need a monitor for Lightroom as a laptop simply can't get the colours right. I can make a photo look great on my laptop, send it to my phone and everything warms up and it looks like total crap really. I've been meaning to go down to Harvey Norman and print of a few photos to compare the colours but haven't got around to it yet.

Lightroom is all it will be used for, so I don't need super fast refresh rates with 10 USB ports and 5.1 surround sound. I just need something utilitarian, with accurate colour reproduction, HDMI input and a good resolution. The one thing I hate most about Lightroom on a laptop is the endless scrolling because I just don't have enough vertical pixels.

I do like the look of the Asus PA248QJ, yet it's only 1920x1200. Next is the PB278QR which is 2560x1440 but pushed out of my budget unless I could find a refurbished one or something.

I'd like to be around the price of the PA248QJ but with more pixels? Am I dreaming? I'll be waiting on buying it until a deal came up obviously (this is OzBargain!) but I'm wanting to know exactly what I should look out for when I see XX% off monitors etc. I don't make any money off photos so I just can't justify to myself to spend more.

Suggestions would be great, thanks.

  • Hi, hope i can help, you'll never go wrong with this.. and of course it's slightly more than your budget, however i believe if you can reproduce your images via lightroom closest to the actual colors, you might be able to make money in the future with whatever you are doing. cheers

or the older version, with slightly thicker bezels, but within your budget, lower resolution.

both of them based on your search criterias = 27" , good color reproductions, acceptable refresh rate, resolutions higher than 1080 and comes with USB 3.0 as a PLUS.

With the dell, you might wanna register for cash rewards and with discount coupon code, the U2715H you can get it for another 50$ cheaper than PCCASEGEAR.

    Cheers.

    • The U2715H received a somewhat negative review from TFT Central, as the panel uniformity is consistently bad across this model, as you'll see in Amazon reviews and the like.

I would recommend the BenQ GW2765HT. It's a 27", 1440p IPS monitor with 1.07 billion colours and 350cd/m2 of brightness. It's absolutely perfect and only clocks in at $549!
An absolute steal if you ask me.

      Hope this helps!

      • +1

It is quite a bit cheaper than the PB278QR but there are a few posts on WP saying the Asus is a bit sharper, though the BenQ is cheaper and has good specs, hmm. Another one to look out for, thank you.

    • The older version has less pixels and costs more than the PA248QJ, so I would prefer to Asus there. The U2715H, there were a few comments saying it is a bit warm but I will look into it further. Thank you.

  • Hey mate… I'm in the same boat so came across your post… So which monitoi did you buy?
