Looking for good laptop within $800 budget!!

Hi Bargainers,
I am currently looking for a good laptop that comes within $800 budget. My preference is 15" or 14" while 13" will not hurt me(but not less than that). And should have atleast these things: 4gb Ram; i5 processor; ssd would be better; light one would be good as I am a uni student. Any recommendation?? (keeping in mind that I am going to start my 2nd year in Computer Science soon.
Thank you! :)

    Dell Outlet

    Go for this one:

    DFO-3145053LT

    Latitude 14 5000 Series 4th Gen Intel Core i5-4310U
    14inch HD Display (probably 1366 x 768) non touch
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    320GB (7200 rpm)
Win 7 x64 bit (upgradable to Windows 10 next month)
    Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
6-cell (65Wh) Lithium Ion battery with ExpressCharge

    $ 839

For lightweight + SSD go for the Latitude 13 7000 series however they seem to be all specced with a Core M processor (slower processor, but more energy saving)

Every now and then there's a Latitude E7440 with i5-4210U, 8GB ram, FHD and 128GB msata for around 800. Only took me couple minutes to add another 8GB ram and a second ssd.

MacBook Pro 13" for sale. It was recently refurbished with NEW BATTERY, keyboard, trackpad, housing (top⁄bottom case). It has 2.3GHz Intel Core i5, 500GB HDD, upgraded 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM and did I mention NEW BATTERY?

  • We got this one. I don't understand why the reviews are bad, but we haven't had any issues.

Think it meets all your requirements except ssd.

Consumer grade laptops are made to look stylish to appeal to the average consumer but will not take the rigours of daily use, being carried around everywhere or accidentally dropped or thrown around in a bag etc.

Unlike cars which can manage to be durable and stylish at the same time, laptops look uglier the more durable they are. It tends to be reflected in the design of the chassis and the materials used — so if you wonder why a Dell Latitude or Thinkpad T/L/X series looks so boxy, boring and lacking in curves and personality, that's because it was made to be manhandled carelessly and to be easily taken apart and repaired after taking a beating.

Since uni laptops are almost always carried around it pays to pay a little extra for durability. The same also goes for anyone wanting a laptop to be long lasting and durable, because business grade laptops usually feature better made parts and replacements can be sourced easily.
