What do I do with it?
Called up SDRO but the phone options don't let me speak to anybody…
Don't want the actual owner of the car to end up with a warning letter etc
Any ideas appreciated :)

Don't worry about it, the first warning letter doesn't add any cost to the fine. I've had several fines that I haven't found on my windscreen but I end up getting the letter. No penalty as long as you pay on the first letter.

Some people actually are cheeky (or another word!) and put their fine on other people's cars hoping they just pay it without checking the rego. It's happened to me before and my dad as well. But I checked the rego and didn't pay it.
Or they do it to make the fine invalid if that owner phones up and points out they got his plate number wrong. Only works if it is the same model and colour car.
some people grab fines from other peoples cars and put them on their own car so that it looks like they have a fine already and the grey ghosts fine other cars.
You could just pay it for them.
Chances are they probably know they have one..that's how it ended up on the ground.
