hong-kong units right? so.. no 2 years apple warranty?
I would highly recommend NOT to buy any grey imports. You will not be protected under the Australian Consumer Law.
But you are still protected by apple 1 year warranty. Go pay $1299 so you can enjoy having local stock. Otherwise, buy this and then get apple care for $129 and you will get 2 years apple local warranty with two accidental damage coverage for only $99each.
But you are still protected by apple 1 year warranty
Yes, but if one is not planning on a trip to Hong Kong or USA or Europe (depending on the market of first sale) just how would one make a claim?
@A3Australia: I bought an iphone 6+ when it was first released for a friend in Malaysia later the home button stopped working, called apple store in Malaysia and they advised us to take it to nearest authorized seller in Malaysia and they replaced it for FREE.
not sure if I was lucky, but I bought couple of iphones from overseas before and apple was happy to cover the warranty up to 2 years without any problem.
Apple's warranty is international. They don't care enough to check the origin of the device as long as the serial shows up as valid and under warranty in their system.
Apple's warranty is international.
Yes, on every product other than IPhones - and iPads with cellular capabilities. Please read the Apple Warranty.
What's the big deal about warranty? You still get a 1 year warranty. In my time of owning mobile phones (since 1996) I've never had to make a warranty claim. If a phone is going to fail it's going to be within the first couple of months anyway…
What's the big deal about warranty?
It is because it is a $1000 device. Makes it a big deal if anything goes wrong. Even, if it is accidental damage one loses the chance for an out of warranty replacement.
I think Apple warranty is interesting, as long as the model number is the same, or the grey import model is using the same component as here… they'd still try to fix it, I could be wrong though.
As long as its not American stock they will cover it(Because of network differences)

No, because it is based on the market of first sale. Apple check the IMEI/Serial Number.
These phones may have been sold only twice, but perhaps more times, when delivered to the Australian importers/buyers.
Only 1 year warranty
Apple still replaced the missus' kogan bought iphone 5C screen under warranty so no cost to us.

May have been an Australian Market iPhone - first sold in Australia. However, others have reported that Apple Australia will sometimes do battery replacements and screen replacements on 'foreign' iPhones.
At the same time as I purchased my Kogan HK supplied iP5s with the 20% off deal, a friend purchased 2 iP5c also from Kogan HK. While my iP5s was a USA Market phone, her two iP5c were Australian Market phones. All were delivered from Kogan Hong Kong. Oh, and the two iPad Airs she purchased at the same time from Kogan HK were Japan Market iPads.
Can I actually claim gst for this one while travelling oversea?
no. you don't pay GST for it so you can't claim it on the way out.
Cool so I'll just skip this one then
If you're going to use it outside of AU (since you said you want to claim the GST on the way out) so you don't care about the AU warranty. And considering that you are still a head getting this one rather than getting it from apple and claim ~$110 in the airport. Even if you have Amex and can claim $50 back if you get it from Apple's website, still cheaper :D
if you find a problem, do apple Australia fix for you?
sometimes they do, sometime not
They will only fix it if you got a problem with your battery or screen or front camera. Otherwise, you will get a refurbished replacement.

He was asking about these private imports. Not about Australian Market iPhones.
As long as its using the same Australian 4g frequency apple Australia will cover it under their warranty.

Maybe they will maybe they won't. My point was that according to Apple's official written warranty they may not.
Why is it illegal?
Why is it illegal?
Technically it is a private import of an non-compliant AC charger?
Can you confirm that? Illegal? Non-compliant?
Have a look at this link,
http://store.apple.com/au/question/answers/readonly/do-i-nee…
I think this link sums it up well. I can not find a reference that it's illegal. However, consumer protection is not guaranteed.

Yes, I can confirm that it is not permitted to import non-compliant electrical equipment such as the Chargers suoplied with the latest USA market and EU market iPhones.
The iPhones themselves are compliant.
If you have any good Dick Smith gift cards, iPhone 6's of various models and sizes are $50-$100 off until the 15th, so that's a non-grey-market option.
Since I want the 64GB model of iPhone 6, it's not a deal for me, since that's only $50 off and my GC's are only the BIG W 7.5% ones that DSE doesn't like to take, requiring that I buy DSE cards at Woolies with my Big W cards. IiNet is still cheaper by $25, even if I had a whole $1099 of GC's left, which I don't.
Woolworths about the only way to guarantee you get them, my online orders alway 'run out of stock'
David Jones should price match Dick Smith so if you have amex(s) might get extra savings through that deal
It's [a] grey import
Nah, it is a private import of what may have been a grey import to Hong Kong (could also be a private import of a HK market iPhone.
but really good price.
One must weigh the risks against the saving. No consumer protection. No local two year warranty via Apple Australia. No out of warranty replacements via Apple Australia.
For me, not worth it on this one. I did take the risk on an iP5s via Kogan HK, but that was with a sale price plus a 20% eBay/PayPal discount.
Are any other colours available or is it only grey imports?
grey import means you are importing this from oversea, so no gst charged, and for iphone, no warrantee from apple australia.
i don't think you get the joke ?
No, he or she doesn't
Yes i know. hence my bold emphasis. Filling in for JV
I'd rather pay more and get local Apple warranty, anything wrong with it you can just take it to the Apple store.
Really good price XD
Too expensive for not local stock
talk about Ozbargainers, seeing this deal is not really a deal due to no extra 1 year warranty, but think again, iphone 6s is coming in Sept 2015, so who needs 2 years warrantY?
Who needs a new phone every year?
iPhone users, usually, sorry but I am one of them, changing every year.
Sorry if I sounded slightly passive aggressive :S Didn't mean to do that.
@AznMitch: no worries. Just my opinion of Apple iphones.
@mooreshady: I've seen many iPhone users who use their phone for long time (i.e. my mother who had iPhone 4 since it's release until last summer and more). I think it's simple personal preference.
@AznMitch: No point upgrading your phone every year. Apple only really updates their phones every two years with the year in between being a spec bump. I had an iPhone 4 before upgrading to the 6, people are too easily fooled into upgrading especially since they can't really improve much on phones anymore.
@mooreshady: I don't think your comment is fair. Can you explain why Android users or Android phones are any different?
@ShamelessBargains: I think it depends on person. If you are into getting a new phone every year, technically speaking, you don't lose a lot if you sell your older phone (iPhones hold their value fairly well). So if you are a person who values getting the newest tech, then, it may all worth it, as long as what you end up with is better than what it costed you.
In terms of iPhone, I don't know, I think it depends on models tbh. 6s and 6s+ seem to have a lot of rumours for a lot of changes (I am slightly excited about the force touch, possible 2GB RAM and aluminum alloy 7000 series). Unlike what 6 had going for it, imo.
Meh, I am more of a geek in terms of these, so I might be looking it differently from other people. My interest is more to gawking at newer technology.

It is effectively NO warranty. One would need to take the phone to the place of first sale. Also no out if warranty replacements in case of accidental damage.
8 left now
Wow that was quick. When I voted 15 minutes ago there were 170 in stock
So many fanboys wow
1000 bucks for a phone… It's 1998 again!
waiting for iphone 7 or 8 next year…..
You mean iphone 6S
I can buy an iPhone 6 outright thru iinet. Surely others can too? Although u prob have issues of network locking.
Umm… not sure what the point of your comment is? iiNet sells the 6+ for $1248 outright.
Ur right I'm an idiot. Missed the +. /facepalm
Ohh, I missed it. Too late.
