  • ASUS ROG for $1894

    or

or if you want to hammer your budget for a really slim form factor:

    MSI GS60 Ghost for $2852

Alienware 13 on sale for $1,698 at JB until 15th June. I personally think the Alienware 15 for $2,123 is better but it's not within your specification of 14" or under and slightly over $2k.

  • Slightly above your budget but can be trimmed down

    $2,099 EOFY at the moment.

    • Remove Microsoft OS & the 1TB HDD (it comes with a 250gb ssd) = $1904.00 incl. GST

Reckon the additional $350.00 is worth the upgrade to the processor (4710MQ —> 4720HQ) & the GFX card (960M —> 970M) compared to the Kong deal below.

      • (it comes with a 250gb ssd)

        Where does it say that?

Did you make it Drive Slot 1 - Not required?

UPDATE: Never mind, a few box above says that.

  • i'd go for the asus rog the-mal mentioned above.

i've seen the alienware 13 struggle a bit playing modern games at medium/high settings with a stable fps.

for the money you're paying you'd expect to get something that can hold a stable framerate.

better to spend a few extra $ to get something that'll last.

    Metabox W230SD? From Kong Computers

    • i7-4710MQ
    • 16GB RAM
    • 256GB Crucial MX200 mSATA
    • 13.3" FHD screen
    • NVIDIA GTX 960M 2GB
    • $1,552 delivered

No Windows license though. $129 extra from Kong Computers or if you are students you might be able to source it cheaper from school.

  • I work with people who run GIS computers and from experience, get a quad core i7 (for hyperthreading), more RAM is better and get a SSD (for OS and GIS files you are working with) and HDD or external HDD (backup/archive) if possible. The one scotty linked looks the best value and meets these requirements, it also comes with a 1tb HDD that he didn't include in the list. $1747 with W8.1
