It is very rare to see the Lego Mindstorm EV3 sets included in the 20% off Lego sales, however I was able to get the last on the shelf at Warringah Mall (NSW) this morning as part of the Myer Toy Sale (thanks to Trent86 for the Original Post). The catalog has 20% off all Lego toys, so if you can find a set (which are normally only in the bigger City stores) feel free to use the attached receipt as a proof to grab one. Best of luck Robotics enthusiasts!

Great for a 3rd old. i bought it for a 4 and 6 year and love controlling the bots from an ipad and changing the sounds it makes. now you need a great case for it https://www.masters.com.au/product/900053458/tekraft-storage…

Ah crap, the storage box quoted above is not the correct one for the template at roboticslearning.com… The box at masters is a lot smaller and will not fit the components of the EV3.
Anyone found the '68238' TEKCRAFT box they are talking about on the site?
looks like they have shrunk it here and the US.. still looking for a good storage solution
Whats the difference between NXT and EV3?
Answered my question :
https://education.lego.com/nl-nl/lesi/middle-school/mindstor…NXT vs EV3
Did you know the EV3 platform is compatible with the NXT platform? The building systems are 100 percent interchangeable. The EV3 software is backward compatible with NXT, and NXT sensors function fully on the EV3 system. We will fully support the NXT platform with sets and software until the end of 2015, so not only will you have plenty of time and support to transition, but also NXT is still an exceptionally worthy investment if you’re just starting out and have no current transition plans. Any NXT you buy today will be useful for many, many years – no matter when you transition to EV3.
How is the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 programmable brick different from the NXT?
The EV3 Intelligent Brick is a completely new component and the most powerful P-brick ever created by LEGO Education. It is built around a faster and stronger processor, which not only increases performance on all parameters compared to the NXT but also introduces new possibilities not available with NXT.
Can you use NXT parts with the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3?
LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 uses the same LEGO Technic elements and RJ12 connector cables as the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education NXT, so all your existing sensors, motors, and building elements will work with the new platform. The NXT rechargeable battery, however, cannot be used with the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 P-brick, but you can reuse the DC charger.
Can I connect my NXT Intelligent Brick to the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Intelligent Brick?
No. It is not possible to daisy chain with the NXT Brick.
Can I program the NXT Intelligent Brick using LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Software?
You can program your NXT Intelligent Brick using the new LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 software. However, not all of the software features are supported by the NXT Intelligent Brick. The short answer is the NXT is the older generation and the EV3 is the current generation. My 10 year old (who I got this for) has been doing after school robotics sessions and they use the Educational version of the EV3 set. This set is the Retail EV3 Kit with Code 31313, while the Educational EV3 Kit is coded 45544. The Educational kit has different software licencing and the sensors in the kits are slightly different as well. A good breakdown on the Educational Kit is at http://education.lego.com/en-us/learn/middle-school/mindstor… or you can info for both at Brickset (Retail: http://brickset.com/sets/31313-1/Mindstorms-EV3 or Education: http://brickset.com/sets/45544-1/Education-EV3-Core-Set)
There are 2 on the shelf at Myer Chadstone if anyone is looking :)
A couple left at Doncaster as of last night, and maybe a dozen in the city.
$343 via eBay with the 20% off code
This would be a good birthday present for my 3yo right? Right?
"Sure honey, you can play with it once daddy is finished"…
