XIAOMI 5000mAh Lithium-Polymer Power Bank from Allbuy/Tmart US$9.98 (AU$13 Via PayPal) Delivered

830

Only Silver or Pink available from this store.

I will add another store with this Power Bank on sale for a similar price, in other colours, in a few minutes.

Here is the link to TMart - they have all colours available, but only for two days, at US$9.99 delivered. Blue, Rose, Gold, Silver, and Black.

Mod: please see comments here some users have suspected these may not be genuine, proceed with caution.

OP: The Xiaomi 5000mAh Power Bank I received from AllBuy.com was genuine. The two Xiaomi 5000mAh Power Banks I received from Tmart.com were counterfeits (fakes).

This model Xiaomi is super thin, and about the size of an iPhone. I have one already, and it lasts/charges better than the similar size JUSTONE 6000mAh priced at US$15+
https://www.allbuy.com/detail/122388
http://www.tmart.com/JUSTONE-J076-1-6000mAh-Universal-High-C…

These China/Hong Kong suppliers tend to get the specs/size confused. So here is a link to the official Xiaomi site.

Just to let people know, shipping to Australia takes a long time from Allbuy.

I placed an order for the same Powerbank on the 30th of April and just received mine yesterday.

    • Not as bad compared to Banggood ;)

      • +2

I've ordered from Bang good before, shipping wasn't as bad as Allbuy.

        • I've ordered from Bang good before, shipping wasn't as bad as Allbuy.

However, the Banggood price is over 50% more than the AllBuy and the Tmart price. Tmart should have a reasonable delivery time from Hong Kong.

        • @A3Australia: I speaking in terms of shipping time, not price.

I speaking in terms of shipping time, not price.

Yes, I knew that. I was just pointing out that it may be worth waiting a bit longer when there is such a difference in price.

Anyway, Tmart has similar delivery times to Banggood I believe.

      • Not as bad compared to Banggood ;)

Banggood are charging AU$20 for this model Xiaomi.

Yes, it used to take about 30days. However, the AllBuy representative has claimed that they recently changed their shipping agent. They are now saying 15 to 21 days for delivery I believe?

Tmart are shipping these from Hong Kong. So, I hope for quicker delivery from that supplier. I have just ordered more Xiaomi from both stores. Should be good as gifts.

      • I hope they changed their shipping agents. For some reason they shipped mine out from Sweden, which would explain why it too a lot longer to reach Australia.

        • +1

I hope they changed their shipping agents.

Their rep. said that they have.

For some reason they shipped mine out from Sweden, which would explain why it too a lot longer to reach Australia.

Correct, as did my Xiaomi EarPhones from AllBuy.

        • @A3Australia: Reading the comments made by the rep, they are saying that "Delivery time can be guaranteed in 15 working days counted from shipping day." So I guess we'll wait and see.

        • @RichardL:

Yes, that would be correct. I was working from memory, and the 15 days I could remember. I guess 5 to 6 days to pick, pack, and ship? So 15 to 21 days for delivery from ordering?

        • @A3Australia: you gotta add the weekends as well

      • +1

My replacement Mi Band was dispatched using Hong Kong Post rather than Sweden Post. So, we can expect faster delivery. I think it is worth giving Allbuy a second chance so I am going to buy one. Thanks for the post.

  • yeah, they took ages to post. i purchased a product from allbuy on 5 May and received on 5 June. if you can wait, you good to go! also, the customer service is quite good.

    • yeah, they took ages to post.

To be fair, I believe they posted orders within 5 days.

i purchased a product from allbuy on 5 May and received on 5 June. if you can wait, you good to go! also, the customer service is quite good.

Yes, the Swedish Post delivery agent takes about 30 days to get items delivered to Australian addresses. Which is why AllBuy have changed their delivery agent.

      • I don't believe the 5 day claim. I bought on 27th April, allbuy claim they notified the agent on 5th May, and it was sent on 27th May. Still no arrival here. This isn't postage within 5 days.

  • For anyone looking for a Powerbank that holds more charge, Allbuy also stocks the new Xiaomi 10000mah Powerbank for AUD $19.38.

For anyone looking for a Powerbank that holds more charge, Allbuy also stocks the new Xiaomi 10000mah Powerbank for AUD $19.38.

Yes, a great price for twice the 'capacity', but with the Xiaomi 5000mAh one it is all about size and 'thinness'. Have you tried to fit the 10000mAh one in a jeans pocket? Let alone fit it WITH your phone in the same pocket?

      • +1

I actually have the old Xiaomi 10400mah, which was alot bigger. I normally chuck it in my bag and have a cable connected to the phone in my pocket.

I was only suggesting the 10000mah, if they were looking for capacity over size.

I was only suggesting the 10000mah, if they were looking for capacity over size.

Yes, we have the other size Xiaomi, and also other brands of Power Banks. The only ones that get used almost daily are the Xiaomi 5000mAh and the similar size JustOne 6000mAh. The big ones like the 10400mAh and 10000mAh have been used only one or twice since purchase. Those big ones also take ages to re-charge after being used. Perhaps because they are Lithium-Ion?

        • +3

@A3Australia: Perhaps they take twice as long to charge because they are twice the capacity?

Microfibre Case (AUD $4.67) to prevent the sharp edges of the Xiaomi 5000mah Powerbank scratching your devices

The Microfibre case are genuine whereas the silicon case are generic.

        • +1

          Yes, Microfibe looks better too.

        • You can get genuine Mi silicone cases too.
Microfibre does look better, but it looks more bulky than the silicone one.
The silicone one picks up dust very easily though!

        • +2

@eug: The Microfibre case doesn't add too much bulk to the Powerbank.

        • @RichardL: Does it wrap around like a skin? Nothing sticking out on the sides?
I'll probably order one anyway, although it feels silly to pay half the price of a power bank just for a case!

The other benefit of the silicone one is that you can tuck the short microUSB cable in the silicone loop on the back.

        • @eug: You slip the powerbank into the case like a sleeve. The bottom is closed and the top doesn't stick out.

        • +1

@RichardL: Just saw a photo. It isn't like a skin - the sides stick out, which is what I meant by more bulky than a wraparound silicone skin.

          i.e.

          Microfibre
          vs
          Silicone

p.s. the link ash200 posted above is for the wrong model.

        • @eug:

I've got 1 x genuine and 1 x non-genuine silicone cases on my other 2 Xiaomis and they are both excellent quality.

The microfiber might slide in and out of the pocket easier then the silicone.

        • +1

@ash2000: I meant that the link you posted above is for the thicker 5200mAh battery, not this 5,000mAh battery.

thx op ! after seeing deals for the Mi Powerbank popup all the time , I finally jumped the gun and purchased one. (Even though I always carry 2 spare galaxy s5 batteries with me everywhere i go)

  • can anyone confirm these are genuine? just bought one from banggood for $22 aud grr! might buy another at thus price

    • These are genuine stock, received mine yesterday.

      • I assume you got a silver one? The Xiaomi website linked doesn't show any colour options, so how can the pink and blue etc be genuine?

        • I purchased the Silver one from Allbuy.

        • I purchased the Silver one from Allbuy.

          Yes, so did I.

The two Xiaomi 5000mAh Power Banks I received from Tmart.com were counterfeits (fakes).

  • I won't be buying from them again. My 27th April headphones purchase has still not arrived.

  • +2

My xiao mi earphones took a month to arrive which is very reasonable allowing for the volume of products they need to process, pack and then send. While they were sent via Swedish Post I doubt they were sent to Sweden first. It is common for people to use shipping agents based in their own country.

Also given that they can supply, pack and mail an item for AUD $20 it is worth the wait. A basic parcel posted between Brisbane and Sydney is almost AUD$9 - that can take a week.

    • Agreed. Consider the vending machine in World Square sells charged no name bricks like this for $30 to $70 with instant delivery, I'll wait a month and a half for $13.

  • The Tmart ones state that the output is 1A (and the picture of the back shows this). Is this an older model then ?
    Allbuy States 2.1A output.

    • +1

Looks like the tmart one is fake as speculated by some users below.

        No serial number(s).

i found the PayPal transaction, but no way to dispute on iOS app. Will check on PC later and open a claim.

  • I purchased something from allbuy two months ago and it still hasn't even been sent..

    • Hi happyantix, contact their customer service Winlady. She is very good, fixed up my issue with the Mi Band very promptly. A change of carrier will definitely improve shipping time.

  • +1

Bought one to take on hols with me in three weeks time… Let's see how these delivery times are. I like to live dangerously.

  • +1

    Remember CashRewards!

  • sorry for the stupid question, but these powerbanks eventually lose their power - to a point where it does no longer charge, is that correct?

I thought once you bought these you would just charge them up with a usb or power point connection, then once it's all juiced up you can charge any of your devices pretty much forever, but recently I was told otherwise? they do eventually die after usually a certain amount of charges

    is this correct?

    • +3

Yes, everything in life eventually dies.

    • +3

They contains a battery similar to the one in your phone, but a bit above twice the capacity.
Each time you charge it, then drain it to recharge something else counts as a cycle. These types of batteries are typically sold with a life time based on the number of cycles before the ability to hold charge decays to 80% of its initial performance.
I don't know the figures for this device, but a typical figure is 500 or 1000 cycles.
It will last longer if you cycle it less frequently, and possibly if you don't drain it completely flat (I've read lots of different opinions on this and it varies by chemistry, but it seems prudent to recharge when it gets to 20% left or similar).
So under normal use it should have a lifetime of at least a few years.

      • +2

Also don't forget that lithium ion/poly cells self-degrade (calendar loss) so they lose capacity even if you just keep them in a drawer.

High temperature is a big killer too, so leaving a fully-charged li-ion battery in your car can degrade it more rapidly.

  • Just bought this a month ago $11.99 delivered also from AllBuy. Received it after 1 month. So pricewise it is very good, but just be aware with longer than usual delivery.

  • With these items (power banks, phone covers etc), do people have a general rule they follow when they search prices? So far, I am aware of eBay, Aliexpress and Tmart. Any other shops people look on for a price comparison before purchasing?

  • What would be the best local price for one of these?

    • +1

Best local price would be from Mushtato during the promotion, which brings it to $21.95.

  • Does this come with any cables?

    • +1

These come with a short micro usb cable to charge the powerbank.

  • +2

from the pictures I can see they will be a FAKE ones.

Bought from Mushtato and the powerbank looks different.

    Front

    Back

Allbuy link looks legitimate if the product is the same as the pictures shown

    Tmart is definitely fakes

    • The allbuy one? I think they just copied and pasted what Xiaomi gives out.
tmart however, I wouldn't trust tmart or aliexpress for batteries (just like how many people don't trust ebay for those stuff).

EDIT: I've posted my comment before you've edited yours, so I might look like I am repeating what you've said a little :S

      • I just edited my post.

Basically i would rather buy from Mushtato original XIAOMI than from this sites, coz you never know what you'll get

        • you have to think if it's right or better say SAFE charging your 600+ device with an unknown made powerbank which can be unstable and damage your internal battery or phone/tablet etc.
        • +1

tmart and aliexpress are like eBay. I wouldn't mind getting a Xiaomi device from a Chinese retailer (like geekbuying, allbuy etc), as long as they are reliable. Not from tmart or aliexpress, just like how I wouldn't get them from eBay. I've got several authentic Xiaomi stuff from Chinese retailers so far.

        • @AznMitch:

Though I find it slightly ironic how Xiaomi batteries still are considered completely safe, when they've increased the amount of Lishen battery cells used in their batteries.

Surely iPhones are still considered safe? Lishen, the fifth-largest li-ion battery manufacturer in the world, supplies batteries to Apple as well.

Whether or not XiaoMi buys the same quality cells as Apple is another question of course. But a large company with a good reputation would normally avoid putting out products that can damage their reputation.

          http://www.wantchinatimes.com/news-subclass-cnt.aspx?id=2012…

        • @eug: I've edited my comment so it might look weird, since it was a speculation from another forum, I thought I might delete that part of the comment. Basically more and more people were finding Lishen cells in their Xiaomi batteries in their 10400 in one of the forums I go to. It caused slight concerns for them, because well it wasn't advertised and they bought the Xiaomi batteries believing that it contained either LG or Samsung cells.

Mushtato for example, were saying things like genuine Samsung and LG cells and never talked about Lishen cells for awhile as far as I know. I've never bought from Mushtato so I cannot comment whether they were able to secure batch with only Samsung and LG cells. However, I can definitely say that I've purchased an authentic Xiaomi 10400 with Lishen cells during the time when Mushtato was saying LG and Samsung cells (without mentioning Lishen cells being used) from another vendor.

I said I find it slightly ironic, because, well one of the reason why Xiaomi batteries were talked so much was because of the value they offered with authentic LG and Samsung cells. I sort of see it similar to how we still like eneloops, even though we can (mostly) source eneloops from China in Australia. Though that being said, I don't think Lishen cells would be inferior to Samsung or LG cells. Though, I haven't seen any external battery packs that advertise "Authentic Lishen cells", however, I've seen many that advertise "Authentic LG cells" or "Authentic Samsung Cells".

I simply find this fact ironic. People trust Xiaomi batteries because of the brand value.

        • @AznMitch: they advertise for this specific 5000mAh powerbank that they using "Premium Li-ion battery cells from LG and Samsung"

        • @aDaMoVEC: Just like how they did that with 10400. Just saying. I am not saying that Xiaomi batteries are unreliable and you shouldn't trust them. I was simply saying, "I find it ironic that people trust Xiaomi batteries out of brand value", even though what got Xiaomi where they are in terms of battery were the internal components.

    • +4

I received my Allbuy one yesterday. The look exactly the same as the Mustato one. Also the verification code seem to be authentication.

It just that AllBuy one is in Chinese where as Mustato one are in English.

EDIT: Looking at the Tmart one, they do look fake.

      • did you checked the code here

        Xiaomi Product Authentication

Would appreciate if you check it, coz i wanna buy couple for my friends

        Thanks

        • I checked the Xiaomi Product Authentication, the moment I received the Powerbank. They seem to be Authentic and Genuine.

Just prepare to wait a lot longer then Mustato to receive the Powerbank.

        • +1

          @RichardL:

Thanks, I already have 10400, 16000 and one 5000 at home, so I definitely would not be running OUT of juice :)

          Just pilling them as Eneloops

        • +2

@aDaMoVEC: What is it with ozbargain and stored, rechargeable power? ;-)

I am really tempted to get this as a backup battery which I carry with me. I have used a bulky 6000mah cheap generic one for a while from fasttech which is working ok for now. Even outputs at 2A. But it's heavy and bulky (not filled with sand, I checked).

        • +1

@fryandlaurie: I recently bought a wireless mouse Logitech G700s which is using one AA battery and this mouse is incredibly power hungry. Have to change a Eneloop Pro battery every 3rd day, so finally i have use for all my Eneloops

plus I have loots of wireless peripheral devices such as keyboard, gamepads etc.

with powerbanks, I just wanna give it to my friends, because they saw mine and they like it.

      • +1

So would I be right in saying that after Mustato/local stock (which I've ordered from before), that Allbuy is the next best site to order from in regards to being 100% genuine and a good price?

    • +1

Yeah that TMart looks hella fake Xiaomi's if those photos are the actual ones you'll be getting.

    • Tmart is definitely fakes.

      They are counterfeits.

      Different packaging.

  • If Australia's couriers doesn't charge that much for shipping there would be so much more possibilities for business here… :(

    • +2

Yeah I agree. But we're such a big country (in terms of geography) and our wages are so high compared to many other countries. We need to expand our innovative capacity as a country to remain competitive.

    • +2

I received the first piston within 4 weeks, but the second only took 2 weeks, quite happy with Allbuy at the moment

  • For anyone who ordered from tmart (like me) and now think those ones may be fake, customer support just cancelled my order (or they said that they did) no questions asked. I didn't even give a reason, just asked for a cancellation and they said no problem, refund in 1-2 days.

  • +1

I'd be more inclined to choo choo choose tmart…9.6% cash back at cashrewards as opposed to allbuys 8%

    • +2

you'd go with the possibly-fake tmart as opposed to the confirmed-genuine allbuy for the extra 20c cashback?

      • +1

unless tmart's been confirmed-fake then yes. i've had no problems with tmart so far.

what makes the tmart one fake?

        • +2

unless tmart's been confirmed-fake then yes.

It'd probably be too late by then. :)

what makes the tmart one fake?

Just have a look at their photo.

          Compared to the original
          Or here.

Why would tmart display a photo of a fake battery if they're selling a genuine one? Is it really worth saving 20c by going with tmart?

        • @eug: i'd just throw it back at them and demand a refund lol.

oh! i see it now, the power button's different. i hope we actually get what's pictured from allbuy then.

        • +1

@tdw: Yeah with all these importers, you never really know what you're going to get till you get it. The suppliers could swap stock and screw the sellers over, like what happened recently with the 16000mAh xiaomi power banks.

You most likely won't get that problem with local sellers like Mushtato! That's why you'll probably see their name mentioned whenever there's an overseas powerbank post.

        • @eug: the only xiaomi powerbank i've bought was from that GearBest deal last month. and i think that was genuine..

        • unless tmart's been confirmed-fake then yes. i've had no problems with tmart so far.

          Tmart's items confirmed as fakes.

Not even the same size as the genuine Xiaomi.

          Assembled the opposite way around.

No MI brand on the USB Port.

          Micro USB Port not white.

          Round button.

          Wrong cable.

          Crazy wrong packaging.

          No authentication label.

          No writing on base.

          Wrong printing on rear.

  • +1

Does AllBuy charge in USD or AUD?

    • you can choose. default currency is usd but they automatically convert it to aud when they detect your location

      • Usually that is just an indication of the price not the actual currency they charge in. The reason why I'm asking is cos I have 2 credit cards - one with no international conversion fees and one with royalty reward points but with relatively high conversion fees so i want to know which one to use.

        • i chose to use allbuy's AUD conversion price of $12.85 as paypal rate was something like US$0.7407 so the $9.98 US would've been $13.47.

the transaction hasn't showed up on my credit card transaction history yet, but i'm quite certain it'll show up in AUD.

        • FYI I just purchased it and even though i set it to AUD, it charged my credit card in USD (according to the email they sent).

        • @jekng: and nothing in your cc's history yet? i'll see if my transaction appears tomorrow.

also did you pay directly by cc or via paypal?
i paid by paypal and it's showing everything in AUD
