Navman Mivue 580 Dash Cam Problems

Just thought it would be quicker to try finding a solution here first before emailing customer support.

Just recently bought myself a Navman MiVue 580 dash cam. It been 2 weeks now and occasionally, whenever i turn my ignition, i would get a message saying 'New SD card detected. Formatting will erase all data".

I reckon this has happened about 5 or 6 times now and i have to go 'OK' or it won't record, therefore deleting all my previous footage.

Just took my SD card and connected it to my laptop. Looked at the footage and it seems like the parking footage is all good but when it came to the driving footage, all the clips have been corrupted.

Just wondering if it would be more the dash cams fault or a faulty memory card.

Anyone have this model dash cam and/or experienced something like this before?

  • does it do the same with other SD cards?

  • this is the only class 10 micro sd I've got. they're not cheap

  • Try another sd card any type

  • Its may be your SD card problem.

  • Whats the brand and storage of your micro sd card?

  • Just got this error on my MiVue 560, although when presented with the message, I cannot click "Cancel" or "Okay".

I think I might try another SD card, and/or format the one I've got. But hope it's not broken after only a few months??

  • Maybe I'm lucky, but I've had no operational issues with my Navman Mivue 580 (purchased 29th June 2016).

    I've recently upgraded to a Sandisk 200GB MicroSDXC UHS-I Card. (64GB & 128GB Sandisk Class 10 / UHS cards also work)

It works perfectly, except that the "Emergency" allocation is 25% (55Gb) of the card. The greatest amount this area needs is 10Gb (about 100 mins).
Parking is also a bit over sized at 37GB. This should be around 10 to 15Gb.
As a courier, I have not exceeded 2.5Gb in a day for Parking, but often have about 40Gb in driving videos.

The 200Gb card gives 183Gb of storage, 88GB of driving videos.
The 128Gb card gives 119Gb storage with 55Gb for driving videos.
