FREE Sample Size "They're Real" Eyeliner and Mascara from Benefit Cosmetics Booth, MYER

380

Available at the Benefit booth at Myer stores, so that would be all the CBD locations.
EDIT: This is available at all Myers with Benefit booths, not just CBD.
You must ask for the "Wing it on tutorial" to receive your free samples. It takes 3 minutes and demonstrates the use of the They're Real Gel Eyeliner.

Sample sizes are quite substantial.
They're Real Mascara sample: 3.0g
Full size: 8.5g, $38
You get ~$13.41 for free

They're Real push-up liner sample: 0.1g
Full size: 1.4g, $35
You get ~$2.50 for free.

If you like brand name makeup but don't want to pay for it, this might be a good time to Broden it. Mascaras are recommended to be thrown away every 6 months to reduce chance of eye infection, so getting a bunch of small sample sizes means you use it up in 6 months and never throw away unused products. The official retail "Travel size Mini" of the They're Real mascara sold by Benefit is $15 and 4g, so the freebies are a nice deal.

WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

EDIT: Went to Myer Sydney CBD again, and they asked for a signup to their email newsletter before commencing the tutorial. Use a fake/burner email if you do this, but they might not ask you if you go during a busy time. The sales rep opened a drawer to fetch the samples, and I eyed about 40 of each still in there. Myer Sydney City has 2 Benefit booths, the regular one and the Brow Bar, which both have supplies of the sample and do the tutorials. I would guess there's probably 100 sample sets left altogether, so don't wait till the last minute to get yours. Or else the Brodens will get them. ;)

          I hope I haven't got Broden in me :|

        • @Scrooge McDuck: Hiya - I still don't get it? Is Broden a user?

        • @piggyfund:

I don't really know, I've just been pretending to get in with the cool kids. :#

He's the king of OzBargain. Here's the link. He has his own entry in Urban Dictionary as well.

        • @babylon: Thanks for the info. Bhahahaaa Broden. LOL.

    Melbourne out of mascara.

    • +1

      that was fast :(

    • Thanks for the heads up, was going to stop by when I was in town but won't bother now.

    That mascara is really good
It only comes in black though so light haired people be warned

  • Is this limited to CBD locations, or is it also valid at say, Ballarat or Highpoint Myer?

    • +1

I know for sure that it's in the Myer City shops. Logically I would assume that any other Myers with Benefit booths would have samples too. That would be Highpoint and Chadstone in VIC, and Bondi and Parramatta in NSW. But I haven't tested it and didn't want to send anyone on a wild goose chase. :(

  • "Mascaras are recommended to be thrown away every 6 months to…"

Recommended by who? Or is it a definitive "Use By" date?

    :p

    • Recommended by the bacteria that could be growing inside the tube.

      • Hey Diji1, keep it so you get free conjunctivitis.

    • If you look on the packaging of any makeup you have, there's a little picture of an open jar with ##M printed on it. This shows the recommended number of months that you should keep opened makeup. For mascaras it's 6 months, lipsticks 24 months, and eyeshadows 36 months.

I'm assuming this is how long they guarantee the shelf life of the anti-microbials/preservatives they used in the formula. If you get an eye infection after keeping a mascara for a year, the company is not at fault for you going blind.

3-6 months said my trainer (modeling academy where we can't step into the building w/o make-up). The lady at the counter agreed but said unless you're wearing it daily don't get it, because it'll dry and clump up anyway, these things don't last forever.

  • Very average mascara imo.

  • Popped into Myer Chadstone today and got a lesson and my samples (after signing up). Maybe I'll finally be able to nail a winged eye now?

    • To get a perfect crisp line, use some tape next to your eye to help you get the wing angle right. The not-too-sticky matte Scotch tape stuff is probably the best for this.

      • Thanks for the tip! A big part of my problem is that I have very hooded eyes, so it can look a bit weird if I put the wing in the wrong place. But I'm getting into makeup properly now so I'll give it another shot.

  • Was told I needed an email from the CBD store? Anyone got an email I can use?

    • If they are asking you to sign up to the mailing list, use a fake email like [email protected]. They won't know it's a fake one.

      • Opps… I meant they actually asked whether I received an email from them rather than being asked to sign up, and wanted me to show them the email sent from them. Maybe I will try again this afternoon to a different lady.

        • Weird, they never asked me for proof of email. The advertisement is on the Benefit Facebook page's wall, if you scroll down a bit. It didn't say you needed to quote that you saw it on FB or Email. You should go again, it's probably just that person. They're probably trying to make sure their samples last until the promotion ends.

The promotion was sent out via email to Myer One card members first, that's what they're asking for.

  • Myer was still giving out sample eyeliners as of yesterday (Melbourne CBD) and today (Northland).
Mascaras seem to have run out earlier than eyeliners for some reason.
I went for the freebie but actually found the tutorial to be helpful!
