Specific Needs for a New Monitor Please HELP!: )

Hey everyone

just wondering if anyones done the same research and could pass off the information to me too!

I've recently stepped down from an iMac to a macbook for portability, but I now need to purchase an external monitor.

the things that I'm looking for in a screen are:

24-27" size
vesa mount compatibility (as I am mounting it onto an arm)
IPS (max viewing angles)
Glossy screen and NOT matte (iMac/thunderbolt style without the price tag haha)

I don't mind if its only 1080p, 1440 would be nice.

I've been looking around in retail stores like jb, dicksmith and officeworks but nothing really caught my eye.

If you have ANY suggestions please let me know!
Thank you :D

  • I don't know about the VESA part but I bought a 27 inch Yamakasi Catleap IPS with a glossy screen from Korea. Give them a google, great monitors half the price of a Dell.

    • Ooh I have actually heard of this brand being mentioned once, Was looking at a Dell S24xx and almost pulled the trigger but Ill have a look at this! Thanks!

  • Price range?

    • Really depends but lets say 24" 1080p im willing to spend up to $300, but Im looking at those ultra wide screens as well and I think you may be able to get a few around $600-700?

  • Sorry to keep asking you questions but it is important to know exactly what you intend to use the monitor for.

Do you do any colour sensitive work? Photography or video editing? Do you intend on doing any gaming with the monitor?

The Dell UltraSharp U2412M is by many accounts a great monitor, although its price is pushing closer to $400 than $300. I am not certain if it is mountable, though.

    • Ask as many questions as you must haha I appreciate it!
I wouldn't say my work is colour critical, I used to do a lot of photography so I know how important it can be especially with printing but not anymore, I do however plan to do CAD work and designing, no gaming.

Are the ultrasharps glossy? i was looking at their S24xx range because I've heard they are the iMac style (which Ive swapped for the macbook system)
I really cannot deal with the grain on matte screens :(
