Shame about the Australia tax on TW3, must cost a lot of money to ship those 1s and 0s across the ocean :(

    • +2

$40 US for GoG version from DLGamer. I assumed 'TW3' is The Witcher 3?

      http://www.dlgamer.us/download-the_witcher_3_wild_hunt-pc_ga…

      • +6

GMG are doing The Witcher 3 for $36USD at the moment in their VIP room.

        • +2

          You win this time…

Is there anywhere it can be bought cheap for Steam?

        • +3

@CyberGenesys: There are quite a few people on the Steam forums trading away copies of Witcher 3 in exchange for relatively cheap games. A friend of mine recently managed to trade a copy of Payday 2 ($20) for a copy of TW3.

This might be due to the influx of TW3 copies from Nvidia GTX 960/70/80 card sales. (They bundle in a free copy)

        • +2

@inbra911: Sold my 2 copies on gumtree for $40 ea :)

        • @inbra911:
Those copies are redeemed on GoG.

"Temperatures are rising" - umm… Anyway, there are some good deals now, like Arcanum, Lichdon Battlemage, Wizardry 8, King of Dragon pass, and Jade Empire.

    • +2

King of Dragon Pass is amazing! Everyone should go buy it.

    • +1

+1 on Jade Empire, thematically it's a bit cheesy but it's well constructed and lots of fun to play.

    • THEY ARE HERE, YO.

      And thanks for the recommendations!

  • +6

Wow surprised to see you guys posting here. Thanks :)

P.S its winter is approaching for us in the Oz ;)

    • it's been winter since at least may…

      • +5

And in GoT Winter has been coming for the past 5 seasons.

    • We are! We have been for a bit now with our regular weekend promos and weekly staff picks - and now with a (MUCH) bigger deal ;)

      • Hi Rep,

Thanks for continuing to support OzBargain community, and likewise my GOG Galaxy collection is growing since these sales started, and not just the free games :)

I have a question, the original Grand Theft Auto (GTA1) and GTA2 were available digitally for free at some point under "Rockstar Classics" & Steam, but then Rockstar pulled them.

These re-releases weren't that great anyway because they were gimped compared to the original release, particularly in that the London 1969 or London 1961 expansion packs (which were never even offered digitally) were incompatible with them. There is also a "Classics Collection" disc release but this is also gimped because it is incompatible with the London 1961 expansion.

Since then I have made a DOSBOX configuration that plays the original GTA1 and it's expansion packs in it's full 3dfx glory, but I am disappointed that other people can't easily enjoy these games too.

Is there any way that GOG can outreach to Rockstar to get licensing for these games, so that everyone can enjoy them? Maybe get Lemmings licensing too?

  • +5

Please tell us more about how hot it is getting as I need a little more convincing.

  • +1

    Bought Jade Empire. Great game.

  • -2

At least Steam acknowledges the weather in each hemisphere and doesn't make driveby posts on here…

    • +7

I think thats because Steam couldnt give a toss about us, because they're sitting back on their yacht snorting cocaine off some supermodel's midriff.

      • Midriff? They can afford better.

    • +1

So the only reason you purchase from Steam is because of the weather?!?

  • -1

    Duke Nukem $1.59 that's $1.59 too expensive.

    • +6

700+ reasons to click the simple green +

      …but ^that's all ya got?

    • +8

"Duke Nukem 3D" is too expensive?!
      Ooh, that's a paddlin'!!

That's retro gold gaming right there.

    • +3

      Duke Nukem 3D is awesome.
      Duke Nukem Forever is awful.

      • +3

Cheerful means full of cheer, awful means full of awe? ;)

        • It's actually full of awwwwwww, not awe :)

  • +3

I wonder since there is a GoG rep here if he notices those people that used VPN to buy cheap copy of the Witcher 3 from Ukrainians so now they probably jack up the price. I love CDR Project Red as a developer because they are listen to their fans. I can afford to buy a $90 witcher game but i will NOT because Australian retailers are ripping us off. I am happy to pay $60 but because thats how much i was willing to pay for Diablo 3 for constant online. Go, NEG away.

    • +12

To be fair to GOG, they have been very vocal about their distaste of regional pricing. Note on The Witcher 3 page that they will give you A$10.30 store credit on purchase to offset the higher cost. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's better that the reaming we get from Steam.

      http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots

    • Shhhhh, shhhhh..

    • +1

We're not aiming to rip anyone off. We're not fans of regionally pricing games, but since it's the only way to get many titles out there, we've decided to compensate for the difference in Store Credit, which you can use for any other purchase over the course of the following year - so, in result, even if you do pay more, but intend to shop with us later, you get your money back in the next games you buy :)

  • +1

They have a bunch of free games too including The Witccher 3 DLC
    http://www.gog.com/game/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_free_dlc_pro…

    • +1

That isn't a free game, that is free add ons for the Witcher 3.

  • +6

I'm impressed that GOG has a rep on OzBargain :-)

edit: aaaaand I found this nugget:

    • Staff closed comments, killing off up-voting ability with it.

      Genius!

      • I know right? I would give a million votes to it if I could

    • +1

True love and I wonder if BlankName has proposed yet.

  • +1

    Hey Rep,

Do you know if the daily games and bundles be on sale more than once during the sale? I don't want to miss out on something because I forgot to check for one/half day.

    • They'll be re-appearing often :) Be sure to check back!

  • +1

The Witcher at $1.49 and Witcher 2 at $2.99 is so cheap. Gameplay wise, they seem dated compared to Witcher 3, but still great content for low costs.

    • +2

well the first one yes, W2 is still amazingly beautiful!

    • +1

Played and finished Witcher 1, easy to get into. Thumbs up.
Played Witcher 2 for just a short period, combat and UI are too cumbersome, given up. Thumbs down.

      • I disliked Witcher 2 for the same reason initially, you get used to it reasonably quickly and it's an excellent game.

        • I read many players complaining you have to do so much rolling-and-rolling during combat. Sounds like a stupid combat play.

        • It's not a hack and slash. Once you get past the opening scenes you can make potions etc which make combat easier - but you can block/parry attacks instead of rolling.

        • I didn't really like the Witcher2's combat; Sometimes it felt like the enemies got in free hits they didn't deserve, an sometimes they didn't even hit me, but I still took the damage! I forced myself to play it 2 weeks ago so I could import my saves for Witcher 3. But I am so very, very glad I did play The Witcher 2!

Witcher 3 is utterly amazing. Whereas I hardly ever used potions and bombs and oils in W2, I use them every single fight in W3 due to the fact that they replenish by using hard alcohol, rather than needing to craft the whole object again. So I'm far less worried about consumption of resources, and more focused on the fight. Not to mention that the sidestep has been added, fixing up combat by more than you'd think.

Pay attention, modern devs. This is how you make a good sequel.

    • The Witcher 2 is an amazing game. it's a steal at $3 though the difficulty is unbalanced in the begining, The Witcher 1 is good but not perfect.

  • +5

    Damn you temptress!

Been happily married to Steam since we met. They've been amazing to me, really know how to fulfil my needs. Never done a thing wrong by me. Their appearance is a complete mess these days, and they're all about money & attention… so, they're not "perfect" any more in my eyes.

…and then GoG came along. You've always been there, confidently doing your own thing. Not chasing attention. Down-to-earth, simple, no strings attached. You even know you'd be my thing on the side, wherever I want.

A 3-way is bound to end in tears, but I want it SO badly!!

    • +4

SO tell me about your steamy romance…

    • I'm guessing you don't let your wife near your mobile phone - ever.

    • +1

Worse, she has the cheek to demand payment to even wear the mod jewelry you made for her.

    • +1

Hey, we're DRM-free. We don't judge you for your other… Attachments and gaming relationships, even if we would sometimes like to. But hey, maybe digitally managed rights are your thing. That's cool. If you decide they're not, though, you know our virtual doors are wide open and we'll gladly take you in.

      • On paper, DRM is evil & you guys are saints. But every big org is evil on paper these days.

It's a lesson in human behaviour, really. I'm a converted 20yr mass-pirate, that suffers zero issues from DRM. 310+ games owned. And meanwhile… the handling, organising, updates, cloud features etc etc cannot be matched.

Love what you offer, and have nothing but praise. But for me, until there's a competing (ie: open source) util/software, it's not even in the hunt.

  • People should note that the "Unlock up to 3 Games" is only available if you don't actually own them. If owned, you won't receive a "gift game" attached to your account, instead you must give away your redemption code before (about) 20th of July 2015 or lose it.

Not such a big issue unless you have no friends :/

    • The bigger issue was that the games were poor choices. Which self respecting gamer didn't own stalker already? Most of us got xenonauts in bundles too, probably.

      • So very true!

What GoG really needs is a quick way to filter out the games a person owns, or simply better filter options which actually work - this is probably the only thing which holds me back from purchasing more games.
